So in my 65 Skylak I had a column shift with no tilt steering. I found on Ebay a 66 Riviera floor shift tilt steering column that the guy said fit the 65 Skylark. Well needless to say it does not fit. Couple of things. The under dash mounting brackets don't line up at all but I can deal with that even with my limited talents. The biggest problem I'm having is my original column was one solid and straight shaft all the way to the box. This one looks like there should be some kind of knuckle and a second half to the box but not sure of the spline count as I keep counting it but keep loosing track. Anyone know of a fix for this or have the bottom half of this? I'm at the point I might just cut my old one and weld it to the newer one once again making it a solid shaft. I wish things fit the way people say they do. One step forward..........two steps back.

The Riviera steering coulmn shafts are short and connect right into the rag joint coupler on the steering box which is close to the firewall. There is no bottom half.

The columns do not normally interchange.
64,65,66 "A" bodies will interchange with no surgery. 67 will NOT.
If you are determined to make it work you will have to figure out how to make it work, fab the parts, and do the work to make it fit.
Square peg, round hole,,,,get a bigger hammer!!!

I hate people that sell crap saying it works but does not. If you don't know then don't say it! Thanks for the help.

You need to look for a intermediate shaft from a '68 model. I have a column from a 68 cutlass in my 67 GS. It's a shaft that goes between the splined end of your column and the steering box. You might be able to find one on ebay or your local junk yard if your lucky.

I found two at a swap meet this weekend but they were from a 68 and 69 camaro but they are so much bigger than the Riviera one. God just hates me.
