Is there a home remedy to take out the warp. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Kirk

I just found this thread and want to let you know I have a Bakers unwarping tool. Just call my cell.

There is NO unwarping of the throttle body/base plate, it is cast aluminum and will crack. Machine it flat on both sides with a big belt sander or replace it.....Cliff

I just received my Cliff Ruggles book. In it he says that some minor warping in the base plate and air horn don't usually cause vacuum leaks as the gaskets can still seal. He suggests that a table mounted belt sand and light sanding with fine paper to try and take down the edges a bit. Nothing major, just a little clean up.

On the air horn you have to consider this will lower your metering rods, but on the base plate I don't see it affecting any of the metering.

Good book! Wish I had bought it sooner.

For 99 percent of the units we build here, the main casting is not unwarped, and the front edges of the airhorn ran briefly across a belt sander so we get a good seal at the gasket when it is tightened down.

We also stock .015" thicker than stock gaskets to help out this situation.

The Barker Garage unwarping tool is excellent. We use it on occassion to bring some pretty heavily warped/valuable castings back from the dead!.....Cliff
