Throttle cable with SPX (assume SP1, SP2, B4B) length issue

Currently I have a GS 350 4bbl throttle cable. Works perfectly for small and big block stock intakes - which we all know has the carb mounted off center - closer to firewall. If you measure from stock cable bracket to ball stud on the Qjet, its 6.2 inches. Oldsmobile is the same, this gives you a proper height gas pedal that is wide open throttle when gas pedal is floored.
Going to aftermarket intake, the carb is centered on the intake and moves carb forward of stock location. As well SPx and SP1 are 1.5 inches taller.
I modified a throttle cable bracket so that the bracket sits the 6.2 inches from the ball stud on the carb. The current throttle cable is approximately 2 inches short of the bracket. Measuring my current throttle cable, I believe it is same length as the aftermarket big block A body cables available- thanks Todd for the dimensions. If I modify a cable bracket to use my cable, it will be overextended and gas pedal will be way too high.
What are people using to ensure correct linkage geometry on these aftermarket intakes?

I have a big car throttle cable that is 3 inches longer than my 350 4bbl A body cable.

Has anyone tried this method? IMG_0899.jpeg IMG_0905.jpeg

That bracket is too far forward...use the 67-71 bracket and you'll be fine

This Mr Gasket kit will hook up the GS/Skylark gas pedal to any carb on any manifold.

That said, the standard big block cable with and aftermarket adjustable bracket typically works just fine, and the gas pedal is not at an objectionable height. Just make sure the carb is fully open, and the cable hits a stop at the same time, to prevent poor performance or carb damage.

My SP1 was fine with the stock 455 cable and bracket. I have a separate cable bracket for the Holley, but the cable works for both carburetors.

Im going to fit the big car cable in next couple days and see how the fit is, if gas pedal etc is somewhere in the normal range, carb hits wot. Let you know how it goes.

You can see where the 67-71 bracket position is much further back than your current bracket

Guys, thanks for more input. I heated up the longer big car cable, installed it. It works! This keeps the gas pedal in stock position and wot at bottom of pedal travel. IMG_0954.jpeg
