Throttle cable removal

At the carb end, from what I can tell from my manual, the throttle cable attaches to a ball joint. Is there a secret or tip to removing the cable from this ball connection? I need to pull my carb.

I usually just use a flat head screwdriver, wedge it inbetween, and pop off the cable from the ball joint.

 

That's what I was going to do, but it's always safer to check first, imo. Thanks!
