I've got about a week to make up my mind on a final paint color for my 57 Special 4dr hardtop.Origionally it was antique ivory---a creamy yellow ----- and a rusty brown on the lower, should have been a something red poly as per the code, which is a lot darker than this color. The ivory is mostly origional and dried out and cracked so even jam areas need to be stripped , so am starting to consider color changes. This is to be a nice classic cruiser to drive around with and enjoy rather than look at ,and will be mostly stock other than brake upgrades. If I change the color to a tannish yellow pearl with an orangish red lower, will this have any real effect on the value of the car to the average person? Will the Buick purist have trouble with a color change? Or does it really matter because it's my car anyway, and if at somtime it is sold it will probably be to sombody who sees it as a nice old car to enjoy as I plan to. Thanks for any opinions Jim.. Sorry don't have any pics to post at this moment. Also don't see alot of people with 57 Specials or Century's posting.

Jim, I had a couple 57 Century 4 door hardtops - there is a large pallet of colors available for 57's - you would be better off resale wise to at least stick to original available 57 Buick color. The antique Ivory is a great color, my one was antique ivory over black under the sweepspear - very flashy!!! I am guessing you have the coppery color interior which will limit you a little on color choices compaired to let's say the black interior. Shell Beige(pinkish) went well with that interior and looked great with the Dove Gray bottom. Early in the year they also had an apricot color that should work well with the antique ivory, this color was discontinued early. If you have the black interior you could go wild 50's color and have lets say the top the antique Ivory and the bottom mint green. But when it comes down to it, it's your car, and as you said, make it what you want.
