She lives. Drove the 69 up the street the other day. Need some small things and the interior put back in. This was not a restoration project. Just put it back on the road. Installed correct 3.42 rear end. New control arm bushings front and back. All the brakes were gone through. Cleaned gas tank and a new pad and sender. Rebuilt T400 correct code. Cloned a 74 455 to look like a 69 and most of the correct things under the hood, added the 69 Stage 1 valve covers for some bling. Had to repaint the inner fenders. Everything works OK, needs a alt bearing and the hose clamps at the heater leaked. The carb and choke need adjusted, other wise it seem to be OK. I have the AC hoses to put on. Thanks Bill.
Awesome Bill .. Congrats !! Nothing better than getting a Fine '69 back on the road after a longggg nap, right George ?!?!?
Great looking GS! Is it just me, or are a lot of projects starting to come to fruition? Maybe car shows and tracks will start seeing an uptick next year! :TU:
No, it was cut out of a 68/72 Skylark, 20 years ago and tack welded in before I put it in storage, thanks Bill. ---------- Post added at 04:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:48 AM ---------- Rick, Jerry Smith Buick things would be nice, but what I would like to find is the second/third owners who put the Stage 2 heads/tunnel ram engine in the car and converted it to a 4 speed with 3.68 gears. I think this was done somewhere around KC and the car may have ran at KCI in the mid and late 80's. I was told by Ken Parks the person I got it from that it was stored in the caves in KC. Thanks Bill. ---------- Post added at 05:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:54 AM ---------- Brian, project not done, will try to finish in the spring. About a dozen small things so far, and new carpet and put the interior back in. Then I maybe can take it to a local cruse night. Before it could be driven much it will need a new set of tires, 415/79/14 WW, and they are getting harder to find. Need the radiator re-cored. New exhaust, the current mufflers where in my storage shed for 30 years and full of cotton from mice and still a little plugged. Will need shocks all around . Then maybe it could be driven on the road. Thanks Bill. FYI, look at the 4th picture I posed after it was running, that is this winters project. 66 GS 4 Speed with 2 4's. Got it out of the building the other day and drove it up to the shop to start to put it back together and or maybe paint it and get the interior back in. Thanks Bill.
Great car! I really like cars that look approachable and driveable. I like the car and like what you're doing with it. Patrick
Bill, I remember this car at Kenny's house in the late 1980's, I will call him and see what else he can tell us. Rick
Rick, thanks for the help. I bought the car from Ken Parks. I think he got it from a Michael Pitts. The Original owner was Kenneth Wyman. I purchased the car in the spring of 1991. Thanks Bill
