I’m wandering if there are people on the board here on kidney dialysis? I have only been on dialysis for a year and a half and would like to know if anyone has some experience with dialysis while traveling for Buick events and specifically the nationals in Bowling Green . I am looking forward to participating and attending and wandering if anybody has experience with having dialysis while in Bowling Green and perhaps the best way to schedule it so I can participate and attend as much of the event as possible.

hello , my wife was on dialysis for a few years . we went to a few buick events over those years, we just scheduled ahead of time for a treatment facility i believe davita has centers all over. your home town center should be able to help you with arrangements.

I do not have any experience myself, but have been in healthcare for many years and have taken care of a lot of dialysis patients. I did a quick Google search, and there appears to be about 4-5 dialysis centers in Bowling Green. It’s not a very big town, so any of them would probably be fine proximity wise. Depending on your schedule (M,W,F, or T,TH,S), you may need to adjust your schedule slightly to not miss the events on Friday, which include the car show and some good drag racing/qualifying runs. Saturday is mostly drag racing competition. I guess what I’m trying to say is that if I could only go for two full days, I would want to be there for Friday and Saturday. If you can dialyze Thursday morning and again on Sunday (if they can accommodate you on a Sunday), you would get to see most of the event if you are there from Thursday afternoon-Saturday. Hope that helps.

Good luck and I hope to see you there!

Thanks for replies.. yes James W. that’s what I was looking for. How to fit in Dialyisis so as to still maximize participation time. I am on a MWF schedule and plan on being there to drop trailer Tuesday and possibly get in some test and tune I thought I read Tuesday was on the schedule. I’m planning on trying to get as much test and tune in as well as participating in eliminations as much as I can. I have never had dialysis away from my home center so this will be all new to me, I will be having my center make the arrangements for the dialysis for while I’m there. I agree Thursday would work well and I’ll have to see what they suggest about Sunday. I’m not far from Bowling Green maybe 4-5 hours but I’m not in a hurry anymore when I travel. I like to enjoy the ride and scenery. I had a great time at the 2020 Buick Bash and can’t wait for the Nationals.......

    Chris,

Before you make travel plans, check to make sure what the schedule is. I believe the last few years have not included Tuesday as an option. It seems they started shortening the event by opening the track on Wednesdays for trailer drop off/set up, with no racing or time trials until Thursday.

That’s great news Chris! I have not heard that they were going back to the old schedule. I guess since this year was cancelled they are hoping for a big turnout next year. Can’t wait!
