Just got back from my final Buick ride of 23. On my way I passed 2 different Tesla charging stations about 8 miles apart. One on I- 75 and the other on I-10. The 10 had every spot full with 2 waiting. The other had 1 car and 9 empty spots. Thinking I should thank them for saving all this fuel that I can burn in my Riv at 10 mpg.

The Govt is pushing EV's. If they are so good how come the Beast is not an EV. Food for thought.

The test will be if the current Beast(s) are replaced with electric versions. Those fake Suburbans are seriously pricy. I think that the powers that be know that there are a lot of grumpy old men (like me) who would bash them continuously for spending perhaps millions of dollars just to make a political statement.

That depends. If were using a million dollar missile to demonstrate ‘f@ck around and find out’ to our would be enemies, then I’m ok with that.

I don't disagree with the above statement. Having said that, I still don't want to pay for more (and likely more expensive) "beasts" when the ones that we currently have are operating just fine. BTW - Whatever happened to the new Air Force one 747s that were ordered and paid for years ago? Obviously they are somewhere; Boeing is no longer making 747s.

That's not too far off. Last year, I watched an ASE webinar on EV's. IIRC, there are like 2000 individual cells in the batteries that each contain 5 batteries the size of D cells. They can be monitored and replaced as needed. If the bad cells are replaced before too many go bad, it greatly increases the overall battery life.

The decision was made to purchase 2 planes for air force one. Then the decision was made to take 2 planes that were already built and convert them because that would save money.
It takes more money to disassemble a new plane to add miles and miles of additional cabling as well as everything else to make it AF1.
So that is why it is so far behind schedule and over budget.
Well, that plus Boeing can't seem to find their ass with two hands these days.

The Canadian Government wants us to transition to electric vehicles. They have decided that all vehicles have to be either electric or hybrid by 2035. As I sit home today, Alberta has just issued a Electrical Grid alert. Now, if we are having trouble in our current situation (-35 C), what are they going to do even in summer when everyone comes home, plugs in their car, fires up the AC and cooks supper. Hmm, why did all the lights go out? We need to build up our grid with alternative supplies of electricity before we consider having the majority of drivers using electric vehicles. Today, they are talking rolling blackouts if we do not limit power use, and, yes, the did mention not charging electric vehicles, and not using block heaters. I foresee either a major grid build, or, a lot of rolling blackout and unhappy, not charged vehicles, in the future because the government has little foresight, I expect the latter.

Pull up a chair kids, things are going to get interesting. My brother-in-law, Ray has the right idea. He has a generator on a cutoff switch to provide them power in an outage. Smart!

My whole-house 22 KW generator is one of my best purchases ever. I don't have to do anything to start it. When it senses a power failure, it waits 20 seconds to be sure it isn't just a glitch, then it starts and picks up the load 12 seconds later. I was told that is to give the engine a little no-load time to build up some heat. I am amazed that the Briggs & Stratton two-banger can start and immediately go to 3,600 rpm without damage. Needless to say, it gets 100% synthetic oil.

I have a 600 pound battery backup for my home that charges off of solar panels. We just went through a power outage last night in negative 20 degrees. Very thankful to have it. It transitions instantly with barely a noticeable flicker. If I keep Snow off the panels and conserve my usage I could make it through multi day outages. It provides 14kw of power. I can add another battery if needed. And can add a generator to charge the battery in the event I am under too much snow or cloud coverage.

In another post I mentioned that if I was in my 30s or 40s solar panels would be a good idea, but 40 is a ways in the rear-view mirror. At my age it would not pay for itself.

Makes me think too, unreliable EV in the cold, people can’t get to work, things get delayed being delivered by EV trucks, what’s going to happen to the supply chain again?

We just don't use our Technology correctly to make it all happen, too worried about stupid crap instead of being realistic.
Also, As long as there is war going on in the Red Sea products are going to cost a lot more.
Everything is just screwed up and just have to get thru it. lol

Generally I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I don’t doubt there are at least a few people in positions of power who like the idea of controlling the people’s mobility, safety and security from a distance.

Haven't they been trying to legislate a kill switch for all new cars for quite some time?
