I went down to Illinois State University this weekend for my friends graduation. Down I55 I go, cruising at 85 (which happens to be as fast as the 86 Nissan will go) with 2 other cars. Who gets pulled over? Me. I'm driving a piece of crap and am obviously a college kid. Why not pull over the brand new minivan, or better yet, the equally new Lincoln that was behind me? So all I have to say is f*** the police! They never seem to be doing anything productive. And doing 85 on a road designed for 90 isn't a big deal, especially at 11pm when no one else is on it!!!! I HATE COPS! :af:
Gettin up at 3 am to go to work sucks.... but getting home at noon is ok...Going to bed at 8 pm(3 hours before my kid)sucks working a 12 hour shift plowing snow on I-80 with 3 hours sleep... sucks.Big Overtime checks are ok... It gets dark at 5??? I am almost ready for bed anyways at that time.. Too cold to work on the cars in a unheated garage ...sucks.Where is my life going anyways???

OK, I got one................. :rant: My daily up and died on me this morning at 6:15 while attempting to enter the highway near us........then I got to wait it out for the tow truck on the side of I-94 on a super cold morning ou: and its dark at 4.30 D. PS the daily is a 90 Dodge Ramcharger we call "Mopey"

Unfortunately, you probably were pulled over because of your "broke college student" look. At 11:00PM at night the cops are out for drunks. Who is more likely to be drunk, the minivan driving soccer Mom, the Lincoln driving retiree, or the 21 year old in the mid 80's Nissan? Take a long, hard look at that ticket and make sure there are absolutely no mistakes on it! Time of day (AM?PM), county, speed (duh), and your personal info. If anything (and I do mean anything) is incorrect you should fight the ticket. I just got out of a ticket myself because the police officer accidentally circled the PM for time issued when he in fact pulled me over in the AM. No big deal right? Well he also mis-read my driver's license and listed me as having Brown eyes and Green hair. With evidece indicating an officer who may be tired from a long shift you can easily challenge the speed he recorded on your ticket. If he can't decipher the difference between AM and PM, or read a driver's license correctly who's to say he read his radar/laser gun correctly.
Oh yeah, and when the officer got his chance to defend the ticket after my rebutle, it started with, "Well your Honor, I was at the end of a long double shift. I was very tired. . . . " My point exactly!

Aubrey, I hadn't even thought of that, but that's a great idea. Too bad the ticket is squeeky clean though. It was apparently at 9:40pm and in the middle of nowhere. I don't think he could've know I was a college kid though until he got right up behind me. It's not like the car tips you off; it's just a econocrapbox and plain-jane enough. It really pissed me off though since I was in the middle of the sandwich of speeders. Anyhow, thanks for the tip!
