I am really pleased with the results here. I stripped it to bare metal and then grafted a 2dr regal onto the front of it. No easy task, considering I used all of the wagon doors and fenders unlike others you have seen. Painted it last week. I thought I would share! Jon
Lookin good brother. Ive been dreaming of turning a wagon into a Grand National for years. Nice color choice too!!
Looks awesome!!:TU: But what is it? ....I mean, what mods were done to the fenders and doors. Those wheels look perfect! Great choice on drivetrain too :TU:
Hey Walt, it is a 83 Buick Regal Wagon. They used the squared off 4 dr front end which looked ok, but was sure lacking. Others have swapped the entire fron clip, but the body lines dont line up, and it looks butchered. I just added metal to the front of my fenders instead and mounted the header panel bumper fillers etc.
Details to come. I bought this from Mike (nolift) Peserchick about 3 years ago. 160k miles and no rust. Thanks for the compliment. I just saw one on ebay today for 1,100 BIN. Century Wagon, 1979.
Thanks for sharing, Jon. It *does* look sweet. (Are you planning on going to do the full GNX/T-Type Wagon route with it?) I still like the Vert GS Repro better (and I'm a longroof guy). Thanks for making the roads a more interesting place to be.
In one of your ealier posts, you said you swapped in a GN rear with 3.23 gears. GN's came with 3.42 gears...Did you swap them out?
Yes, I bought a 8.5 carrier with a wasted pig. I found another posi unit and decided to put the 3.23 gears since I have a TH400 and dont have the luxury of the 0.67 OD 4th gear in the 200R4 tranny. I love where it cruises. Doing LOTS of sand blasting of trim pieces now...... Messy!!!! Thanks, Jon
Good work indeed,I like the looks of that wagon, nicely done. Please keep posting the pics as you go,great project.
More progress pics n the wagon. Have all the wiring done, interior back in, and front end mounted. Also mounted tinted windows inside the black frames. Love how it looks like one long black window on the side. Still needs trim put on etc, but I must buff the paint one more time before doing that. More to come! Jon
