........to part out. Anybody in search of anything? Car is solid without a title. Has good quarters, doors and fenders. Has power sunroof, passengers seat, RH mirror, rear defog, trunk release, and has black interior.I am debating if I should buy this car of not. There are some items on this car that I need and would like to dump the rest asap if possible. If you have any requests let me know and it might help me make a decision.
    Thanks,
    Tony

  2. I guess my question is, if it's that solid and with those options (especially the roof) why are you parting it out vs restoring or letting someone else buy and restore?:Do No:

Car has no title and the guy has been trying to sell it for over a year. The car is a bit over priced and the motor is not in the car.
    Thanks,
    Tony

What exactly would I have to do. The guy that has it bought it from a guy that has since passed away and they never did a title transfer?

  7. Has to be a way - it is nowhere near being a unique problem.

It probably depends on the state, and check with your local state motor vehicles office / DMV, but current owner may apply for a duplicate title if the old one is lost.

I bought a car in Georgia once and tried to register and title it with only a bill of sale from previous owner, as he had lost the title. Nothing doing, their DMV said, and I had to have the previous owner go back and apply for a duplicate. He didn't like it, and neither did I but he did it anyway and I was finally able to transfer the car over to my name and register it properly.

Believe it's the same rule/law here in California.

  8. Okay I just read that last part. Yeah, this could be tricky. The faint scent of legal issues with estates and so forth comes to mind. Still, it can't be that bad - it's just an old car. Check with your DMV.
