Im toying with the idea of building another sleeper and was thinking about an Electra, wildcat, etc. I have had a ton of fun in my Sportwagon looking stock and running 11.70's on street tires. It is almost to flashy looking (red and with GS Hood), really want to build up the ultimate Grandpa looking sleeper. Was thinking of a 4 door Electra as you can find them in good shape and reasonable. I thought I would ask here 1st to find the challenges I will face. Are headers hard to find for the big cars? What about Posi rears? thanks! Dennis
Thats an awesome Electra, really starting to be fond of those cars 2 or 4 door. Love to see pics of the 70' wagon Alaskbuick
Dennis, depending on what year (71+ or 70-), your header choices might be limited. 71 and newer big cars you will be able to fit the headers on with minor modifications. Pre 71, you are relegated to shorties.
Dennis, Vintage.. that's cooler. 71-73 small block B body.. (Centurion, LeSabre) I have done the build your looking to do.. 425+HP BB, headers ect. That motor went into both a 75 Electra, and now is in a 71 Centurion 4 door. I believe all 71-73 B bodies that came with a small block, also have the corporate 8.5" rear.. so good parts available for cheap. Same stuff as the 71 up a body rears. That chassis also came with a 455, so everything is bolt in, parts/accessories brackets everything is around.. cheap. I used shorty headers, they bolt to the motor before install, and then snuggle right in there. That 71 4 door I did, with it's faster steering ratio and high geared rear, was much more satisfying to drive, and much faster, than the 75 Electra it started out in. Have fun JW
