They even made mistakes when they advertised our Rivs in magazines.......

It seems to me that almost every article printed about the '66 Riv contains facts that are either completely wrong or somewhat twisted to suit the author's opinions. For now I'll leave that as it may be, but I purchased this magazine ad for a '66 Riv from a seller on evilbay.

Perhaps someone can make it show up clearer, but it clearly states "LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL WITH A CHOICE OF THREE AXLE RATIOS-3.23, 3.42, AND 3.58:1" 3.58???? That's a new one on me........ :puzzled:

To the best of my knowledge, in '66 and '67 the 3.42 posi rear came standard in the GS Riv. If you ordered a non-GS it came standard with 3.07, and posi was optional with that ratio or 3.42. My service manual lists an optional 3.23 for '66 but not for '67. Also, 3.91 was also an option both years although I've never come across one yet. (wish I had it in mine though :Brow: )

Maybe the ads were made before the final design for the car was complete. If you look close the photo is a drawing. It's no wonder so many facts get screwed up when even the advertisments weren't correct! :error:
