These Heads are titled as 455 Heads, But the valve covers look like pontiac, and the casting number listed is strange, seems more like a date code. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2451649207&category=40931 Dexter
Id say they are pontiac heads, 4 bolts for the valve cover where buick has 5, olds 10... ect. The seller claims they were pulled from a skylark, so i figured they might be small block buick heads, but they have 6 bolts for the valve cover. Bought all I can tell from the pictures
The "6X" part of the head number made a dim lightbulb come on for me. So I went to google and typed "6x heads" and sure enough it was Pontiac pages that came up. As an example: http://www.atransam.com/Heads_4_Sale_Page.html From this page: http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/pontiacdude428/HeadID.html It looks like they came off a 455 and are 114cc's.
uzzled: They are pontiac heads and valve covers uzzled: and the seller just doesn't know his motors  I've got a set of pontiac chrome valve covers hanging in my garage: :bglasses: p.s. the intake, oil and valley pan are also pontiac :eek2:
o No: hell you never know!!!!!!!!!!!! uzzled: how many times do you hear nice chevelle or nice cutlass guy around here get that all the time :eek2:  it could be a lemans :beer :bglasses:
The link to atransam.com was comical. Not only did JoeBob have a bunch of Pontiac head flow figures out of whack (been copying bad info on the net), but his price for pontiac head cores is at least double national retail.
6X heads are off of 350/400/455 smog motors. Yes they are PONTIAC (as everyone else has said). IF the motor is a 455, then the heads will be 98 cc models, with AIR provision. If they came off a 350, then they will be 91 cc chambered. Nothing too special, much more desireable are the #16, #64, #67 GTO stuff - smaller chambers = bigger dollars. Jim
