I have a couple of questions on the Thermostatic Choke Coil, I hope that I can get some help with this.
Ok, I removed it out of the Intake because it wasnt setting the choke like its supposed to. I was reading the 1972 Buick Service Manual that I have and it says that when the engine is cold the rod that the coil is connected to is supposed to pull down on the choke, thus making the engine idle fast. Well, before I unbolted the coil and the housing that it sits in I was able to move the rod freely up and down. Do these coils go bad like Thermostatic Fan Clutches do? And if so, how do you replace them? Well after I removed the Coil, I tried winding up the coil more to see if that would help, and I reinstalled the Coil and hooked the rod back up to the Carb, I waited until the next day when the engine was cold, tried setting the choke - and it didnt work. The Intake is the original one that came with the car, the bigger bolt of the three that are holding the housing to the intake rusted in place, the head snapped off, so I had to drill and tap the hole. :af: The carburator is not the original quadrajet though, it is a Carter quadrajet not a Rochester. Any Ideas or suggestions?

The air blades ride on a cam on the pass side. You are supposed to depress the gas pedal to the floor and then the air blades should close. Make sure all linkages are moving freely.
