I have been sitting on the parts I secured (Thank You for the great deal Eric : ) for a couple months (prior to that waiting for years) waiting for there to be no rain, hellacious winds (work outside,no garage, lift etc)and my body to work to pull the busted cylinder head & other worn one. Tearing the top end off of a GS? Something I would have snorted at back in the day( “BIG deal! That’s nothing Fritz!”) fast forward to 2020 and the boatload of untreated injuries and the shower of sweat filling my glasses as I push through the pain? It is an accomplishment for me and I was SO happy to see those ratty yellow painted cylinder heads & intake from previous owner sitting on my cart! Had to stop early to wrap & tarp everything up waterproof as more days of rain through Thursday but I don’t care! Progress has been made and whole top end is pulled & the rebuilt heads & intake Eric sold me are just waiting for paint & a clear day & then maybe I can get this heap running enough to have a little long loooooooong overdue fun & have Gary build me a rumpin thumpin motor & the sleeper is complete : ) Anyhow I know it isn’t much but any progress is good progress : ) Okay, now the toughest part......to get outta bed and see how bad I hurt myself yesterday lol.
Heeeeeeeyyyyy with the encouragement of my faithful hound I made it down the tiny 1890 farmhouse steps & don’t feel incredibly bad, but who could feel bad with a good friend like this around I ask ya? : ) NOW, a BIG cup of coffee! Lol
Taking care of my 95 year old Mom we are BLESSED to still have (love my Mommy & proud to say it : ) Rain & possibly snow are in the forecast this week but I don’t want that engine tarped & shrink wrapped or not seeing moisture so gonna find an open window in weather hopefully. Is it okay to use those old copper head gaskets or should I just use new Felpros? Hoping the copper ones are a little thinner so might help even a wee bit on the compression
FRITZEE!!! WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT SPEAKING ABOUT THAT WHICH MUST NOT BE SPOKEN??? (Caps intended) You know ) what WE southerners do NOT speak of, and YOU, yes YOU, have spoken it. You bring the curse of the evil white stuff of winter that we hate and cannot tolerate... Now I must go and buy a loaf of bread and gallon of milk to appease . You EVIL man... With regards to the gaskets, I'd used new Felpro's. Unless the heads or block have been O-ringed.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha yeh boy that color is funnnnnnkeeeeee for a Buick engine, can’t wait to rattle can the rest of it if Napa still has something close to Buick Red
Ain't nothing wrong with a yeller engine I say paint it yellow again be different and unique like some of us out west
Your builds are so SUPER CLEAN Joe you can make anything look awesome, if I tried that it would look like a 40 year old abused lawnmower motor (kinda like it looks now! lol).
Joe that looks awesome!! They should've done the engines yellow from factory on the saturn yellow GSX's back in 70
Damn John,I hate to see you beat yourself up to get your car running....I love the concept and would love to copycat it...I like saddle interior with yellow for whatever reason,so that would be the obvious sign it wasnt real. Next time I'm up your way for cars and coffee,I'll see if you're up for a visit. Cute dog ya got there, too
Thank you Dave & yes that would be nice to get out & talk Buick’s brother,in a real funk right now but this too shall pass I guess
Glad your making progress. I get the ,Back in the day, getting it done. I think I saw a pic of some parts you collected?
