Good point. With the amount of money it costs to convert I'd say you're going to spend $1K-$2K if your time is worth anything.
Is that recoverable? Is a converted 4 speed worth more than an auto but less than an original 4 speed car? I know the purists would say don't convert, but what if it already isn't numbers matching engine or tranny?
I would say it's nearly always recoverable. I think if done correctly, most buyers would assume it's factory. Most people check body codes, but how many people dig to find out if it's a factory 4 spd?
Considering the "value" added by being a convertible I'm thinking of breaking out the sawzall. :Brow: :laugh: Ok - maybe not. Regarding NADA pricing, wouldn't an appraiser at least look at NADA before completing the appraisal? Last time I checked NADA it reported a jump in value for me that isn't reflected in my insurance paperwork. Now I think I should revise my stated value.
