I scored a B262 a few weeks ago thanks to "Ownster". I searched Buick Edelbrock and found it on Craigslist in Washington State. (Of course on the other side of the world) The guy I bought it from had listed it about an hour before I got in touch with him and we made the deal (Lucky Me!). Anyway I received it Friday before I headed down to E-Town, so it had to sit and wait. {Backstory} -I also picked up a slightly used electric oven off Craigslist from a woman (man she was HOT!)who was redoing her kitchen. I bought the Eastwood powdercoating kit. Belive it or not the most expensive part of the whole powdercoating set up was the 220V wire to hook up the oven $150. So here it is after my first powdercoating adventure- ain't she 'purty!! I will be making the swap real soon:TU:
Great find. The last B262 I saw went for something like $700....not cheap, but those old Edelbrocks would really flow.
man ... that looks great:TU: . are you going to modify the holes? ... and i have to ask of course if you've established some kind of "contiunous" contact w that women you wrote about in your backstory???  ... and also BTW the other coast of your continent does not mean it's the other side of the world ...  try google earth to discover other nice countries ... like the one i live in   ... just joking.
Dirk - To me the other side of the continent is the other side of the world (in my little world:laugh: ) TT and I are going to do the mods on the manifold in the very near future. As for the woman - just a memory now, but a good memory all the same:grin:
Ive met Tony's wife. They would never find his body. Nice work on the powdercoating there Ant-nee! I cant believe you actually bought an oven. Your shot
Nice find and powdercoat Tony! Is it just me or do the stock Nail intakes have a combination of dual planes and singles? The 4 corner cylinders seem that they can get a direct flow from the corner of the intake closest to them, like a single plane. Then the middle 4 cylinders get fed from the other side of the intake! Dual plane as I understand dual plane intakes. Now if you look at the EELCO and I believe the B262 they are strictly dual plane intakes with one side feeding the other side, all 4 cylinders. Check it out with a tape measure or something with some flexability. Take a corner runner where it would bolt to the head and run that flexible piece up into the intake and the "barrel" closest to that runner is a direct shot. Right? You can even use youe fingers if long enough. Then the center runners are fed from the opposite side of the intake! I realize the cylinders may be fed from more than one runner of the intake but those corners are getting straight shots! Now he aftermarket intakes are not designed like this. One side of the aftermarket intake feeds the other, no direct shots, corner to corner! Anyone see this as I do? Anthony is off sometimes, like way off yonder! LOL Anthony Gessler says the stock dual quad is off by 30%b from the least flowing to the best so it sounds like I am onto something. Man I need a vacation!
Offy makes a ''360'' manifold that addresses this issue for the 400-430-455 engines, but not the nailhead. Basicly it is 2 manifolds cast into one housing. I am kicking around the idea of making a nail head manifold of that type if I can get my ducks rowed up.
Oh, Lord, I was minding my own business when that Yaccy friend that you gave me, came up with a 3 barrell and got me all in a uproar about it and then he comes up with a powder coating idea and then goes on to build himself a system. I did nt want to covet a 3bbl or a powder coat system but Yaccy..................
Tony, that looks awesome!:beers2: What color powder did you use? Eastwood has a cast iron powder I really like. Powder coating is fun, you're going to get carried away! Great PC forums at Eastwood and Caswell plating. Doc...you're getting to me! I looked at some Holley 3 barrels. The secondarys are one big oval barrel....so do you use a carb adapter, or remove the divider from the intake?
Walt, you need an adapter plate for a stock 1x4 manifold. You will need to remove the center divider in the adapter & put a small notch in the manifold. This notch & adapter will help to balance the air from the 180* design.
Yep , Tom is right. You have to have an adapter any way because of the holleys bigger bolt pattern. I , like Tom suggested, made mine to match the carb base plate. Just be sure that you have room so that the secondary plate doesnt hang up on the center divider of the intake manifold. That wouldnt be cool.
Funny you say washington state! I ebayed a B262 a few years ago to a guy in wash.state for $550.00 maybe the very one ?? Gary / Moz
Hey Yacster....and I thought I had scored a good deal... a fello in Michigan advertised an NOS Nailhead 2x4 Offy intake still in the original bag... I bought it and thought I was the luckiest dood alive...but I guess you popped my bubble huh. Since I am new to Nailheads, I was wondering..(and please dont shoot me if this has already been discussed  ) But, judging by responses to Yacsters score..., I can assume there is quite a difference in performance twixt the Edelbrock and Offy nailhead intakes? Looking for free edjumacation here! Feedback anyone! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Hey wheelzie- Unfortunately the offy has the worst flow #'s. The e-brock and new Eelco (copy of the ebrock) flow the best for dual quads. The stock cast Iron is right behind those but weighs 35#. The e-brock is kinda rare because they had stop production on these and they are kinda hard to come by, but they are out there. I got this one very reasonable, that is why I picked it up other wise I would have stayed with the stock set up.:TU:
Here's Eelco's website if anyone's interested http://www.eelco-usa.com/index.php?cPath=24_30&osCsid=fd3d38b0f183059af5fd3984e4831a27
Wheelz, the Offenhauser is still available new...so would that be NNS, instead of NOS? o No: Word is, they don't flow too well.
Here are some pics of the new set-up. I powdercoated the velleypan and valve covers to match - Runs great. Only problem is the ait cleaner wont fit under the hoos now. Gotta find some new air cleaners that will fit.
