I have seen questions about our 350" connecting rods come up many times. I recently came across my TRW engine specs book, and thought it might help some to post all of the info here.

TRW used to (and may still) sell reman rods. The part number for the 350 "Cap Screw" rods is CR1449. Long ago, I bought 8 and reworked them and added ARP bolts. OK, here are the specs:

    Center to center length 6.387"
    Crank pin Diameter 2"
    Big End Diameter 2.1250"
    Pin Diameter .940"
    Offset .096"
Max width at bore end .836"

More SBB rod info than you ever wanted to know!!

Yeah, I know that it is depressing. It most certainly is for me also, but..

The car is 100% complete except for bodywork and paint.
I don't like taking it to shows with friends because it simply isn't a show car right now.

It IS a blast to go fast in this Beast! I have had an awesome time with the car, but I always find that I want to do more to make it better / faster, whatever. This isn't possible because without a job, my funds are hitting new lows all the time.

I have decided to go back to college for a while and further my degree, so having the car off the road helps keep me from being distracted by my "Baby".

Having owned the Skylark since 1985, I have put it in storage many, many times before. Storage is only temporary and this has always helped me to keep my wits about me; banishing all thoughts of ever selling the car.

Also - keep in mind that I enjoyed the car all winter here in Florida. Whereas people up north are just getting their cars out of their garages and barns, Floridians have been going all winter. I actually drive the car less in the summer anyway (no A/C) :)

I like to think that the next time I resurrect it, I'll be in the position to be able to get the body and paint work done... And maybe a Nitrous kit... Richmond 6 speed... Aluminum Driveshaft... Road Race Oil Pan... X Pipe exhaust system with Ceramic coated Headers.... etc... etc... Hmmmmm..?

    Thanks for asking !

Andy's is deffinately a neat car. Been there and sat my big fat butt in that little tiny road race seat.

And he can be coerced into to showing it. Done that too at Daytona in march this year. I finally got around to putting my old 350 back in my blue car. What a difference from the stock 72 low compression motor I had been running in it.

Sure put the fun back into driving with all the troubles I've had with my 455 in the gold car.

I hope everything works out for you down there Andy, The buick community needs more outside the box thinkers like you.

Ya, I'll try to keep that quiet....

My Holley cleared up after I messed with it. When the car was "put to sleep" the plugs were clean and it was running excellent! I took it out for 2 last "blasts" before hibernation. There is a long, windy road behind the Daytona Airport. Went out late at night and pulled some major G's. 35 MPH posted in the corners? Nah, how about double that at 70+ ?? Major fun, and amazing that the old beast is capable of "handling" it!

I look forward to seeing all of you guys at least by the Rod Run in November!

Take care, and thanks for the kind words!

    Andy
