My name is David Lucas and I am 19 yrs old from Meade Co. Ky. I bought my 70 skylark custom when I was 14 and began working on it. Looks like the end of the line now though because the other night I was hit head on by some dumba$$ in a lincoln. They had to cut me out with the jaws of life and i suffered a broken leg a few cuts and bruises and of corse a broken heart. Made a lot of memories in this car though going buick was one of the best things I ever had to do even though you always have to correct ignorant 16 yr olds that its not a chevelle and hell no its not an olds. So now im Looking for a 70-72 body. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy the pics.

    OMG!! :jd:
Judging by those photos, you are very lucky that a broken leg was the worst injury that you sustained.
It looks like it could have been much worse.

Wow... sorry to hear about that David. Your car looks like it was very nice.
On the bright side, YOU are OK and you will definately be able to find another car.
Keep looking, the right one WILL pop up! :TU:

Lucky you are not a honda guy. I agree with Michael Garrison Salvage what you can and rebuild.

Either you have fantastic luck, or someone upstairs was watching out for you. The important thing is that you're ok. You can always get another car. Besides, now you get the chance to build another one just the way you want it!

The guy in the lincoln told the cops he was goin 50 but id say more like 70 and get this it was in a 25mph zone. We met on a hillcrest on a small side road about a mile from my home and i ran off the rd tryin to miss him hittin a bunch of bricks in the guys yard with my passenger side. needless to say he still hit me and wasnt hurt at all. If I woulda been able to get out of the car though he woulda prolly had a broken nose. Id say he was on somethin knowin his reputation but his daddy got him outta there before they could even test him. I am plannin on fixin on just how i like it like to have a real gs though, and greens not really my color. Ive got a 455 and a switch pitch 400 in the makings but now i have no car to put it in. Just need a decent body everything around heres junk or been bought up. Probably see some of you all at the nationals this year.

Glad you're ok, thats pretty nasty.

Nice car, too. That interior looks to be pretty close to the one in my car.

    wow

Holy Crap ! Thank God you are alive !!!

That was one sweet looking car. Already the scroungehound in me is seeing lots of usable stuff in the pics..Cover it up with a tarp, heal up, take a breather and when you are feeling and THINKING 100% THEN make decisions, I have made decisions in my life shortly after trauma and have later figured out I wasnt thinking at 100% capacity. LOTS of good 36 year old hard to find parts there in your car...Good shells ARE around. I live in freekin MAINE, land of rust, and I keep thinking "They are all gone now" , Hell I was thinking that about 69-72 stuff back in 84 when I was in High School, yet even NOW, right here in the "rust belt" good cars occasionally still "pop up ".

Keep the faith, and give yourself some time ! It will all work out !

I know you are very upset about your car, but your life is far more important. I have been in a similar situation before, so I can share your feelings
. As posted earlier, for now cover the car , heal up then regroup pull all the salvagable parts off and find another shell, but DO NOT get rid of this one until the next one is rolling. You may need some small part off the wreck that you will never think of. Thank God you are still here to tell use about this and good luck.

i'm glad your dtill with us man. goes to show how much safer the older cars are than some of the new ones. my sister was in a wreck about 5 years ago now involving a head on collision with a tree after being ran off the road by an idiot like that. she was driving a then new mazda 626. she broke both legs so severly that she had to have multiple surguries and took nearly a year for her to learn to walk again. thankfully she is still here with us, but if the car she was driving was made out of a little more steel maybe she wouldn't have been put through so much pain. be thankful your still here man, the car can be replaced. you can't.

Same as everyone else, glad your safe. Now is this guy not being held accountable for what happened? Or are they saying it was an unavoidable incident? I'd imagine if it was his fault you'd be able to have soemthing covered?

    swyto Got parts? Any bait?

    Didn't enjoy those pics

Dave, Thank your lucky stars! Good thing you reacted the way you did. It's easy to say "it's only a car" I know how attached I am to mine and I've only had it a short time. You'll have another one and it'll be better. Take care and get well!

Just seen this I am a new member. What part of Meade are you from I live in E-town off 251. I have a 72 GS 350 I am restoring, I know a few guys around that mite be able to help you finding parts. The number one guy around here to talk to about buicks is John Osbourne and he lives 15 mins away from me my dad used to run around with him and a guy named Danny Duff. But Danny is in North Cariolina i think. John lives in Rineyville i would have to dig up his number if your interested. My story is kinda like yours I got my GS when I was 15 and now im 16 It was my dads car 10 years ago and I traded a 84 El camino to a guy in Leicthfield for this GS. My dad also has a 71 Skylark custom convertible that i am trying to get him to pull out of our garage to restore it this winter.
