We made it noooo problem and turned lots of heads along the way.. :Brow: All washed up and ready for the garage......Thanks Frank... :TU:
Thanks Adam. I'm working hard to make it better than new. I have totally restored the stainless on the roof. It was in good shape and now it looks brand new :eek2: . I use to detail cars for a living years ago and I'm going bumper to bumper, piece by piece. I have put about 20 hours into her so far. The reason I used Mackie's was its a local auto carrier in Oshawa (45 mins from where I live ) and came highly recommended from some high end car collectors I know. They also look after all the border papers, taxes, etc., real easy for me! The car was deliveried to Freeway Ford in Scarborough because it is my brother's place of business. ( He took care of getting the cash to Frank and arranged shipping.) It was also easy to find (right on the 401) and easy to unload the car for the driver (large dealership lot)
Wow, that car is a beauty! Lookin' good! Glad to see she has a new home just as good as her old one. :beer :TU:
Wow ! :eek2: Frank you got yourself a really nice car ! Do you know how many of them were made ? And by any chance , for my image collection , do you have a picture of the car with T-tops off ? By the way since you said that you'll bring it to some show this summer , if you have one to see in Quebec it's Granby International , from Toronto it's a 6 1/2 drive . I can bring you some info if you'd like , bye Donald
Thanks Rob. Went to her first criuse today.Everyone was coming over to look and ask questions. It was put on by the Clarington Classics.( A great bunch of guys and gals) My wife and I had so much fun we joined the club!
Frank was the last owner. My name is Ted...the new owner. I have done alot of research on these cars. There was 1290 "Free Spirits" made. This car was built on March 15 ,1976 in Flint. I will post some new pictures in a week or so in "Members Rides" Not sure if I can make Granby this year, but please send the info... :beer
That truly is a beautiful car! I remember there was one in my area I would see on a regular basis back in the late '70's. :beer

LOOKING GOOD.....VERY GOOD..... :TU: :TU: sorry about the gas thingy...it was very low...and ya know that US gas evaporates fast...especialy when crossing into Canada   ENJOY THE CAR... ......YOU ASKED FOR IT - YOU GOT IT.....with buying that car comes the continuous explanation of what it is and all the history behind it...over and over......it turns heads all over the place.....and besides its a chick magnet...your wife will try 2 make you get rid of it... she will not let you drive it with the t-tops off.....watch and see.....hehehehehhe thats the only reason i sold it....(just joking) I will miss her.....Hey,Ted....my sister lives in Scarbourough...one day we will hook up...... oh, Ted..... and let me keep my avatar of the pace car just a bit longer... ou:......and also that strange feeling of something missing is very strong when I walk into my garage..... :ball:
Pace, It sounds like you had everything planned out to the nth degree, and it worked out great for you. The reason I asked was I looked around for a car transporter last year, I never even thought of Mackies! I ended up renting a U-Haul dolly, driving down to Allentown PA with my Chevy short box and pulling my Skylark back. It wasn't all that expensive, my wife can't say that she's never stayed in the Poconos :TU: , and the car and I kinda "bonded" - alot more work but I'm glad we went that route, would do it again too. Although we live up in Horseshoe now, my wife and I are originally from Bowmanville (lots of friends and family at The Motors) - we used United/Rockbrune Bros. for our last moves, it just worked out that way, they bid cheaper than Mackies.
Frank..you have my number. Just give me a little notice to when you are coming up. Ya..you can use the picture a little longer...then I charge rent, copyright etc.... The wife loves the car almost as much as I do so the tops are off more then on !
What engine is in that? I know the pace cars at the track had a 300+ hp turbo v6 in them, but not sure what the street version had. Awsome car - always loved them. Congrats. Bob
