You ask what a velite is, well only way I know how to put it is it's an idea from buick engineers/GM designers that is supposedly trying to get buick back into the performance groove again.(?I think anywaw?) I don't know much about it, if im not mistaking it has a V8 and a V6 option(?) Im not sure about it but if they stuffed another corporated engine in it you can count me out.
Sorry for hijacking the thread so much but after reading a little I guess it doesn't have a V8 option, just a V6, but at least it is supposed to have 400 HP.
Pretty kinky car Wow I think I like that more than the blackhawk......imagine if they put the blackhawk motor in that with twin turbos............is this one possibly for real to come out or is it another one of those cars to get yer hopes up high.....who can afford one :ball:
Yeah those cars are both awesome. I just don't understand why Buick is so liberal when it comes to the use of the 3.8L V6. I think the 3800 is a great engine but common, in the Park Avenue you gotta have a V8. In motortrend they said that they were going to switch back to rwd and maybe drop a northstar into it. As for the magazine, what is the issue number and year? I'd really like one of those.
Hot Rod Magazine The issue is May 1970 Hot Rod Magazine. at the top it says........How to- 572 HP from a 327 chevy. and has 5 engines on the front and it says.....Exclusive: Buicks Experimental V8s. The magazine is awesome overall just seeing the history and articles....There is also an Opel funny car poster. I paid 10 bucks. Good luck with the search.
Northstar I really like the 32 valve northstar engines they pack a hefty amount of power. Id much rather see Buick go with their own engine for once.
Me too! I doubt they will though. Cadillac is like the only company that doesn't go with the generic GM engines.
Roberta, I think this is were the confusion comes from. Blackhawk's engine is a 1970-vintage 455-cubic-inch Buick GS Stage III V-8, heavily detailed and mated to the latest electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated, overhead valve, fuel-injected engine generates 463 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Blackhawk's performance goal is 0-60 miles per hour in under 5 seconds. http://www.t-rexsoftware.com/50th/blackhawk.htm
