    44 years ago today . One of the crew was from Saint Joseph Michigan. He was only in the mid twenties when she sank. Has to be "hard" for all of the affected families even now. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.

    ...first learned about Edmund Fitzgerald and Lake Superior weather from Gordon Lightfoot song. From there, learned about lake vs ocean-going buoyancy/weather-related differences...

    My late cousin Fred was a boatbuilder. I remember him telling me that cargo ships that enter the great lakes from the ocean and the opposote have two different Plimsoll lines on their hulls due to the different displacement quantity in fresh and salt water.
