Hi. I am in the process of doing an engine swap on my 71 Jeepster Commando. Right now it has the ol 225 oddfire in it. I am looking for something more powerful and found that the buick 350 will bolt right in with the exsisting motor mounts. Anyways I am wondering what year 350 or what donor rig would be good to use? Im basically looking for a stock 350 that will do well for light duty trail use and towing a boat. Cooling it is my biggest concern. Thanks
The most powerful (at least with the most compression) and highest rated power was the '70 350 with the 4 barrel option. I believe it was rated at 410 lbs/ft of torque stock. The Buick 350 is a very durable engine. My dad coaxed his to over 285k miles with nothing more than a carb rebuild before selling his '76 Skylark in '86.
