I just watched a '67 Corvette get sold. No lie!!!!! The guy said, "It is an original Arizona car, so there is no rust on it." uzzled: What a JERK!!!!!!!!! He must be the only person in the universe who doesn't know Corvettes are fiberglass. Oh, they also are lookin at the engine... prefect! smooth! clean! valve covers. Obviously been sprayed recently! "This is an unrestored car. A 'survivor' ". This guy would know a spark plug from a fire plug! sweet Jesus.
The 69 GTO convertible that just sold, The guy said, Wouldnt it be worth more if it was an actual GTO instead of a Judge Clone? Then the other guy starts talking about the 389 Tri Power which we all know was last used in 1966:blast: :blast: They are idiots:spank: :spank:
... i was suprised that they expected the copo cars to have flashy paint, mag wheels and bucket seats. geez, the whole point of those is to pull up and think its just a little 350 car. but the rusty corvette line was definantly the funniest yet
The bigger idiots are the bidders who are paying WAAAYYYY to much for most of those cars. We should all sell our cars at the BJ auction and buy replacements on eBay. ou:
LOL! I seen where they were selling a car on there that they claimed was harley earl's(or however you spell his name) '63 vette and one of the announcers said he was looking for a '63 vette....Well, DUH!........I mean, if you buy a car, obviously you are going to buy something you want or are looking for. jezze, how stupid can you be?o No: I didnt know harley earl(however it is spelled) owned a vette anyways. announcers have lack of knowledge on there! stupidity is not a crime......but is contagious.......be sure you have a brightly litten bulb in your head at all times.......:TU:
Actually a Corvette can rust. Frame rot is a real problem area for one. Usually right where the rear control arm meets the frame. First place to look. My brother just traded some moron an 86 T/A( nice car, but not exactly rare or desireable) for a 73 454 4 spd Vette even up. Vette needs work but it's all there and a legit big block. Mt brother neglected to check the frame and when he told me of the deal I was sure the car was gonna be about rusted in half. He lucked out. No rot at all. Also, Harley Earl, when he was head Stylist for GM had a Corvette built specifically for him. Had a few doodads on it that never made production(sidepipes coming out of the side of the front fenders etc.) and a special color.
Well, of course we all know a frame can rust. But usually when someone talks about rust on a car usually we all think (and assume) quarters, fenders and window channels...
I'm pretty sure the announcers area of expertise was outside the scope of 60's vintage American cars. Every single word out their mouth made me shake my head. What really cracked me up is when they argued amongst themselves about the Market Value of the cars they knew nothing about.
Unfortunately, he's not the only one!!!ou: :Brow:  To this day, my uncle swears he had a STEEL '53 Vette....says it was a prototype or something.ou: I don't bother correcting him anymore!!p Between the war stories and the truck driving stories....it gets REAL deep sometimes!!!:Brow: :Brow:
If I had a $5 bill for everytime someone walked up to my Riv at a cruise night and asked if it has a fiberglass body I could probably take the wife out for a really nice steak dinner somewhere.
I was watching the auction Saturday night, and they had a Jaguar XKE on the auction block-as they're looking the car over, they mentioned how the car looked very correct-even down to the tire nubs!!!(what a bunch of idiots!!!) Anyone can buy new tires for their car and then trailer it and say that it wasn't driven.
announcers of the announcers , mike lajoie , knows his stuff about the 60's & 70's cars . the english guy knew the jags . brock yeates was there for the comedic edge . the others - forget them ; as u say they were useless .
Speedvision BJ Announcers Couldn't agree with you more ! . . . and every year it gets worse ! I changed channels twice during the Saturday evening presentation because of the 'idiot' statements that crew was comming up with. I thought it was just me but I'm glad to see somebody else thinks these guys are jerks ! :af: Maybe BJ made enough money this year to get some professional commentators for next years presentation !ou: Other than that the show was great.:TU:
One thing Brock Yates said that I totally agree with is that it is getting old seeing street rods with the standard 350 SBC.
and another thing did u guys notice that there seemed to be more & longer commercial breaks ? or was i just dreaming ?
