I just recently got my motor back together (for the second time, 1st time it started ran for like 5 seconds and 3 wrist pins seized in the pistons due to me not dumping enough oil on them prior to installin them.) for those who don't remember or don't know i pulled the motor mid summer for a rebuild, it is bored .060, new pistons, bearings, crank turned, i put a TA Perf TA25 cam in it. I got it running just over a week ago and have only been able to take it out a couple times due to lovely North Idaho winters ......C'MON spring and summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway she seems to run good....:TU: :3gears:

Congrats Casey. Rebuilding and starting a new engine is about as close as a man can get to giving birth.

The best part is if you don't like your new "prize" or it doesn't act right, you can disassemble it and straighten it out.

I ordered my rebuild kit from Northern Auto Parts, (yeah..i know kind of a el cheapo pistons but those nailheads are so expensive even to build cheaply, and i've had luck with those pistons in ...cough cough....SBC's) i would've ordered better pistongs but i'm only 18 and am still paying what i bought off. The rest of the kit is pretty good though, has Clevite 77 rod bearings had to order Mains from T.A. Perf. I also put the T.A. Neoprene main seals in it. Had hardened seats put in the heads, also put valve guide inserts in (should've had new guides and vavles but that will come later maybe when funds are better). For a Carb i've got a 625 Carter AFB that i got for 50 bucks, stock distributer for now, want to get one of those MSD, or Mallory distributers, forgot who is now making them for the nailheads. I will try and get some pictures of the motor and car up, right now i am in Kentucky for christmas, and the computer at my house in Idaho is slow and my scanner is not hooked up yet and i don't have a digital camera.
Anyway, she seems to have good power, need to tune the carter a little bit, has a slight bog when the 4 brls open, (didn't do that before the rebuild though....) probably need to time it a little better, i don't think my vacum advance even works. Oh well, she was the fastest car my senior year (last year) in high school and that was with the old motor, (closest compitition was a 1955 Cheby Pickup with a 402 BBC, the ricers couldn't even touch either of us...hahahahaha, and of course they barked the loudest until they all got humiliated.......awww...too bad) :TU: :beer :3gears:
