I just wanted to take the time to thank all the enthusiasts who have bought parts from me in the past couple of months. You know who you are and you've made it possible for me to finally purchase the '63 Wildcat I've had me eye on. The car has 80k miles on it and during the 1600 mile drive from Washington State here to Arizona I didn't have to add any oil. This car is in unbelievable condition, zero rust, original paint, flawless interior. I am anxious to get the buffer out to bring back the finish, it only has a few small scratches and chips. The chrome is polishing up nicely, no pitting at all! THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

Thanks David! Of all the sixties vintage cars I've purchased in the past 15 years this one is probably in the best condition. I have nicer cars but they weren't in this good of shape to start out with. I plan on polishing this one up and driving it on a daily basis for awhile before giving it a paint and detail resto.

To answer your question from a previous post my dogs are of unknown lineage. We got the black one (Shady) as a pit/lab mix when she was about 5 months old, she is 3 years now. She however doesn't display any lab behavior, totally uninterested in chasing a ball and doesn't swim. Our smaller dog (Athena) we were told was a purebred Am Staff, she is 2 years old now and still looks like a puppy. She definitely has some bird dog in her as she will play fetch relentlessly and loves the water. I think maybe she is part Brittany Spaniel or something. Here is a picture that makes Shady look less like a lab.

Good luck with the Cat, I have a '64 convertible myself that I would mind tooling around AZ in for a couple weeks.

Cool, I wish I had a convertible Wildcat! My '64 is a 4dr hardtop, similiar condition to my '63, original paint, clean int., no rust. Do you have any pictures of your convertible?

txg- What's the first name? I just figured out how to post a couple of photos on the member's rides section. I also put a photo of the "who's got a droptop" thread. I love my 64 but I have to admit that I think the 63 has a bit more or a body. The 64's are pretty long on the sides without the detail work which a lot of people end up painting a contrast color to the body paitn. Turns out really nice, I can't do that with my 64. Great cars anyway.

First name is Taylor. The '63 is my favorite model year Wildcat, I really like the stainless inserts on the fenders and the look of the tail lights. My '64 has a factory two tone paint scheme, blue with a white top. One thing I do like better about the '64 is the horn button. My first Buick was a '65 Wildcat 2dr, I really like that body style as well and no X Frame makes for nice exhaust. I'm trying to get a Wildcat for each model year. Currently have a 63 64 65 70 next on the priority list is either a '62 or a '66 GS.

Heck of a collection. Wasn't 62 actually an Invicta though. I was told by an old Buick tech that the Wildcat was made from 62 Invicta and took the name Wildcat during the production year.

Yes, the '62 Wildcat was an Invicta with a trim package. How many were made with this option is a mystery. I checked out the pictures of your '64, looks pretty sweet! What kind of motor and interior does it have? Where's the hubcaps?

Well here's the story. I had a 72 LTD vert that I drove daily for 4 years. The frame had a few holes in it and the body was pretty rusty although the putty and paint looked pretty good. (I knew better) So I decided to keep an eye out for a builder, something I could take on as a first project. I found this car in the town I work in and the owner tried his best to sell it to me for about a year. It was in his garage with a ton of junk on it and the top torn to pieces. One day I really took a hard look at it and although the engine was seized, I found it to be # matching with everything there. Some body work was in order but, it was straight. I bought it for $600.00 and spent about 18 months, part time with it to get her on the street. The engine is a 401 Nailhead, something I am sure you have, bucket seats with console shifting 400 tranny. The engine was freshly rebuilt to stock, the tranny was good to go. Interior is all original and in very good condition although I had to replace the carpets and top. After some rust repair on the 1/4's and floors, I had it painted a silver metallic color. The car is a 180 from what it looked like. I put 2.5" duals on it and am planning to put Am Racing or Crager rims on it (60's style 5 spokes) I have all the original hubcaps stored in my garage. I thought about keeping the steel rims the way I painted them but one is pretty mangeled from previous owner and I found that the other 3 are pretty rusty inside. I believe it would be a good idea to change the rims for safety reasons at this point. One thing is for certain, I have not seen another one like it in my area, and I have been hitting the car shows for quite sometime now. I did see a one off 64 convertible with a 4 speed manual stick tranny in one of our local shows about 2 years ago. The owner told me it was a Buick execs car build for him and not mass produced. That thing was a trailer queen but awesome. I'll try to attach a photo that I took for you collection if you have one. I am trying to give my car a bit of a rod look with performance to go along. Have you done any such thing to any of you'r Cats?

Here you go Taylor, this is the car I was talking about, very unusual and as you can see, a beautiful car that I am sure I would be afraid to drive on the road. Check of the factory spotlight. The car also came with A/C and a factory tach in the console. I think the tranny was called a syncromesh(?)
You don't happen to have a dual wuad set up for any of you'r cars do you?

How cool is that car, definitely worth adding to the picture collection. I'd like to find a decent sent of those rally wheels. I considered buying a basket case '64 convertible but couldn't justify spending the 3k the owner wanted.

Yeah, 3K is alot for a true basket case. I have seen alot of Wildcats and other Buicks going for a lot less than the typical Mustangs, Camaros etc...etc...Keep looking for a convertible, they are out there and I think you can do alot better than 3K.

I'm always looking! The one I almost got wasn't really a basket case. It was a low mileage good running and driving car that was vandalized (top and interior was all cut up!) and then it sat under a tree in Seattle for about 20 years. I wish I had a picture of it, what a sad sight to see.

I've put about 10,000 miles on this car now and it will be going to the paint booth next month. Thanks again Everybody!

Taylor I don't have a Cat but I do have a pit lab cross and it took 2 years to get it to swim. I found something she like to chew that would float. ( a fake duck) and put it in the water that was just to deep until she wanted it so bad. Now I cant get her out of the water.

Before we moved here to AZ were water is in short supply we used to take her to the river frequently. We've tried putting here chew toys in the water and she will go after it until the water gets too deep and she loses here footing. She just doesn't seem to like to swim, she does like to bite the incoming waves though? Our little one however takes to the water without hesitation and will swim after birds all day long. How we all miss the river....
