Thanks for the great week-end guys. Your hard work over the years has paid off. The parking lot party and grill cooking is as big a part of the week end as ever. 136 cars!!!!!!! Grand stands full....... :beer :TU: amazing, amazing, amazing. Six, count them "6" magazines were in attendance to cover this event. About time, only took some of them 10 years, but better late to the party then never! Super Chevy is covering it finally, and I'm betting a certain orange Vette tore down will be on the cover :TU: JJ and I parked in the very back row, and I stood in awe at all the cars and people in the grand stands. I remember the first year. 20 cars...... so 10 shootouts and 20 spectators cause every one brought one person with them. And Tom Shaw was with us. Good to see him still in the game 10 years later! JJ and I have never missied one yet. Look to what it has grown into. Congrats Dan and Bob, and all the silent volunteers! Peter
Yeah, what Pete said Yes it was a great weekend, with an outstanding turnout, and Mother Nature let us have our event :TU: Thank's Babe. Thanks again Dan and Bob for the greatest 2 day Musclecar event in the World :beer Congratulation's to Julie Pennington for winning her shootout against a very competitive Jimmy Johnston. Kudos to Terry Pennington and crew for ripping the Vette completely apart *AFTER* the event to certify, left nothing to the imagination. Engine was so hot it was smoking while being torn down. This should once and for all shut the pie holes of the nay-sayer's :Smarty: Parking lot cookout was delicious, thanks to all those who cooked. Thanks to all who attended, both racer's and spectator's :TU: Alway's great to see old friend's,and greater to make new one's. :3gears:
What a great event !!! Even with all the problems (I just found out my car dropped a valve because of a bad retainer) I still say there is no greater event in the automotive world..........
Thanks ! A big "Thank You ", for all who made this event possible! Spectated in years past. Participated this year. Still on cloud 9. Thanks for the memories that my son Trevor and I will share forever! Also wanted to say ,that I just spent the last couple days with the classiest bunch of people I've ever met! Pure Stockers Rock!!! :beer Rich
Still the greatest. Thanks Dan, Bob, and all else who made it happen. Eighth in a row for me and the lumpy Ramrod, just as much fun as ever. Party in the parking lot Friday night was awesome, better every year. Thanks, too, to the Remlingers for the great BF and hospitality over there in the grass. Let's shoot for 150 cars next year! Can't wait for all the media coverage! :TU: :TU:
Thanks Thanks again to Bob and Dan, I think it was one of the best, and with media coverage expected, should be even better next year! Do we have the same weekend??
in a word....... AWESOME Had an excellent time. Met a ton of great people.....hung around with "Mom"; watched a few carb rebuilds (thanks for the lessons Steve!! keep the dogs outta your lap ); got my :moonu: handed to me by a '68 Firebird; learned about bedbugs and Willie Nelson...... Next year, I'm wearing a shirt that says: "I am NOT Roberta!" And, from here on - it's no longer "Lucille"; she shall be addressed as "Ms. Lucille, Queen of the John Force Burnouts" A great event, filled with great people. If you haven't been there, get there next year!!
Most fun I have had all year. Even the 8 hour drive home was not a problem since I was still pumped up on the 2 days of racing and fellowship. Had a ball meeting my northern friends again and also met quite a few new people who I now consider friends. Thanks Dan and Bob for all the behind the scenes work you do to get and keep this event going. I look forward to this event 6 months in advance. When it finally comes , I'm like a kid on christmas morning. :TU: Tailgating in the parking lot is as good as it gets. See you guys and gals next year. :3gears:
Wwwwwwooooohhhhhhhhoooooo! THANKS DAN & BOB! :TU: Man, what a great time this year (especially after last years' 2bbl only incedent). A better car show has yet to be put together! Was great to meet up with old friends (family?) and putting faces on names. To Frank, Karen and all who fed Jeff and I :TU: :beer . Next year will even better as I'm planning on raising a hog for a fiest fit for a king and his court. To Tom Cannon, Dan Doyle, Steve & Cindy Hodges THANKS for everything. First run off the trailer was my 2nd best run as the Slug went 13.347@104.56 and the second run an hour later was a bracket car like 13.342@104.77. Thought I'd change the 20 year old Champions to Autolites and add some 110 octane to see how much quicker it would get only to lose a tenth and 2 mph ou . Still had enough to hold off the SD455 Trans Am I was up against, taking him in 2. Was close both times though and that is what it is all about - good close racing. Lon
This was by far the best. Watching my young son Justin make a few passes down the track was awsome. He is hooked and represents the next generation of participants. Thanks to all that helped celebrate his birthday. That made for a special birthday for him. He had some 60 foot times that were better than mine Time to hand the torch down?? Naw, I don't think so Being paired up with my oldest son Eric in his 1968 Camaro Z was very special and a match I will not ever forget. First Father / son race I think they have ever had. Race one, had I not had a better light, he would have whipped my butt. I so look forward to seeing every one there every year. It is a great "family" event. A special thanks to Bob and Dan. You are the best, Thanks again.
I bought a KILLER 8x11 photo of our Camaro leaving the line this weekend, and the guy said he can do poster size if anyone is so inclined...and I've already had someone ask, so I'll post the info... Guys, Thanks alot for another great weekend :TU: Had lots of fun hanging out with the members of RIO Racing(Rode Island Ohio). Lost my shoot out :af: (Steve I'll see you next year  ) but win lose or draw it,s all the same. New best for the GTO and the Pace Car  . Just put the GTO away for the year time to get back to the Hurst Olds..Nice to meet you Steve A, and enjoyed talking to the rest of you. Oh yea Brian that Merc is :TU:
HUGE THANKS to Dan,Bob,Scott,Diego and support staff for hosting the best muscle car event I've ever been to. Can it get much better than that? Parking lot party was a blast! I'm sure we'll be talking about that one for years to come. Special thanks to: My son Adrian and G/F Peg for the "pep talk". Team Canada for the beer, laughs and keith/terry pit crew. Mark W for the "showdown" Benoit for the Gumbo soup! Paul G for the belt tightening in the staging lanes and fierce competition Can we do this a few times a year?
Had a great time at the races this year. Had put the car together 3 days before the event so cant' complain how it ran.Still was assembling things Friday morning at the track. First pass was horrible found out I had bad spark plugs. Changed those and first time off the trailer went 12.62@ 110.86 with a 2.034 60'. 1st round had a 1.889 60' -vs-2.001 for the chebby, enough to hold him off at the end with a 12.421 @ 110.85 to his 12.509 @ 113.70. Win for the Buick... Talk about close WOW... 2nd run 1.98 60' to his 2.014 with a 12.453@ 112.34 for the WINN..... GO BUICKS's........Felt real good to race against a 454 4-speed chevelle that ran so strong. Special thanks to Gary Paine for the Stock rebuild, Straight Line performance for the Stock Cam grind, and Rob Ross for his excellent tuning work at the track. Cant wait till next season and to get some tune time with the car. See ya next year, Chris :TU:
Thanks Thanks especially to Dan and Bob but also Diego and Scott. Scott I will have the HO ("your race car") ready for you next year again. I had some of the best pairings ever. I was driving stuff slower than usual but had as much or more fun than ever. Bruno and I being paired anyhow was a hoot. Sorry Bruno but I could not give in that easily even if I did have a vested interest in your car. Also had the Hornet which we did not have running until after 1:00 on Friday. It was running the other SC/360 Hornet. Two Hornets in 136 cars and they match up. Sorry to him for my sand bagging. Some late tuning Friday night and Saturday morning had me breaking out on the first run w/a 13.447 @ 104.1. Opps. Lot's of work left to be done on that car. I need to stop it from bouncing its way down the track. We tore both shock locations on the floor pan ou: But with some off season suspension/dyno tuning we will really get her to run. Several spectators came up and said you could see air under the rear tires every time I shifted it was hopping so badly. Thanks again. Mark
Thanks to Dan and Bob for letting me sneak in under the wire , made the 24 hours it took for me to get threre and and 20 hours home well worth it . It was also great meeting alot of the guys I jam back and forth with here , too bad I didn't get to meet you all . :beer
Noel, it was nice meeting you as well. You've got a very nice GTO !. I think you would have won the shootout of you didn't have a couple of missed shifts. I wish that I would have had more time to visit with everyone and see more of the racing. Can't wait for next year.
