At the risk of boring those that have been there and done that, I want to share a few pictures of the recent trip my family took to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a memorable trip that we made on Halloween weekend. You folks out in Colorado sure have some pretty scenery. A nice nature thread if you will! Here is a large Elk herd grazing amongst the mountians.
Some roads in the park were already closed because of snow. This is the view from the "end of the road".
This is the Stanley hotel. It was built in the early 1900's by the Stanley Steamer car guy { I always manage to tie cars into a vacation } The hotel sits just outside the Rocky Mountain National Park and was said to the inspiration for Stephen King's Shining. Needless to say my wife didn't want to stay there!
It snowed pretty good the night before we left. This church was made even more appealing by it. Colorado Rt 7 if I recall, heading from Estes Park to Boulder. There are more pictures of wildlife and mountains if someone wants me to post more.
hi brian i did enjoy the pics anymore please put them on. i've been there and wish to go back. i travel a bit now but it takes me forever to get from point a to point b and thoughs pics remind me of why i stay going. i will get back there one day thanks again Greg :TU:
Nice great photo's!!!!! I was reminded of the natural beauty today as I drove past a field in broad daylight that had a flock of near 30 turkeys, and grazing amoung the turkey were about 10 deer - all together enjoying the day.
The hills of SW Pennsylvania hold a special place in my heart. Home is a very beautiful place as well! I can mentally picture your siting! :bglasses:
Will - Co! I shared some of the pictures with a work with the other day and he had pictures of bears at Glacier National Park. That would be a great place to visit too! Anybody else snap something neat this last year? This picture is of a Stellers Jay I think.
We saw a Coyotes and there were signs for mountain lions. In the town of Estes Park wildlife like this deer were walking around everywhere.
Those are beautiful pictures. Would you mind mind sending me the mountain scene with the clouds at the summit to use as my desktop? I promise I won't distribute it further in any way... Frank fbrooks@austin.rr.com
Thanks Adam! The wife bought me the camera for Christmas last year. I have been very happy with it. Your compliments make my day! This Elk was also walking around Estes Park. My youngest son was probably within four feet of one.
You got it Frank. These mountains belong to all of us and so do the pictures. I am flattered that you've asked! This one was taken during a snow storm inside the park. It is Bear Lake with elevation of around 9,750'.
Must have been a memorable trip, based on those awesome pictues. :bglasses: Nothing in nature can match the sight of an Elk herd grazing and sharing the grounds with a gaggle of Yardleys :eek2: D.
Great pictures. I have been to Colorado probably a dozen times now and I never get tired of seeing the beauty of that part of the country. Man I miss it again already.
In fact, my two older boys, heeding the wild Yardley warnings, broke this icicle off at Bear Lake to fight off any attacks.
