th400 valve body check ball questions

Opened up my tranny to install a shift kit, found only 2 checkballs in there, i read in the shift kit that when you add the modifications you only add 3 check balls, now i read in an article that 2 check balls in position 5 and 6 is for competition use... is this true.. does anyone know where to get these check balls if i need them, will i be ok with only 2 of them..let me know thanks

 

You must be installing a B&M kit, if so, good luck with the sprag.

I install 5 checkballs on most TH400's and they shift plenty firm enough.

 

Thanks for the info again jake, I was the one that also posted the one in chevelle tech, i own 2 chevelles also and was hoping to find someone who could help me, unfortunetly i have not been able to find the other 3 more checkballs at any hardware, parts, or performance shops..

I would think a ball bearing would be identical.......you could try a bearing supply store. :idea2:

 

Thanks guys i allready found them, i had to go to a Tresure Yard, (atleat for me), which i found a 65 66 riviera with a 430, body in bad shape but atleat it was all there, anyone interested let me know i can tell them where it is in southern california
