With the engine of my car being rebuilt, i feel it necessary to upgrade and reinforce the tranny to be able to sustain the power.

im not sure how high the power will be, so ill set the bar way high at 650-700 horse

im requestiong some opinions on the following:

Shift kit: any diff. styles, brands, etc

New clutches. i was looking at the poston ones.

and i want to put an overdrive in the tranny, is it possible and where can i find one?

    thanks very much :TU:

I don't have 700 hp, but enough. I went through this last year and when I asked about a 200-4R trans both here and on 4 or 5 turbo buick boards and 3 names came up. CK Performance on the east coast, California Performance Transmissions (Art Carr) on the west coast, and Janis Transmissions in Akron, OH. I had Vince Janis do mine since he was just 20 minutes away and have been very pleased.

    phillip,

thanks for that information on transmission specialists, that applies to what I've been thinking about in the way of rebuilders. I would like to know about your 200r though, as I'm very interested in that idea especially liking the slightly shorter 1st gear and overdrive of the 200r vs the t400. Do you recommend it? Is it too much $ for what you get? (meaning it takes too long to recoupe what you've spent vs the t400).

My application is a '64 Riviera and having a built up 455 put in. I plan on driving it a lot( like around town as well as 800 mile trips....not just a weekend car. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    ps I know a built 200r is pricey...I had a turbo Regal.!
