I think I wasted the trans in my 69 Electra. Whines all the time and slips in and out of gear. I have a good used trans in a 71 Riv parts car that I'm considering swapping into the 225. Both are th400's. The only difference I see is my 69 has a 1 wire thingy on the drivers side and the 71 has a 2 wire thingy. What's the difference? Any other differences that could cause me problems? Front shaft? Tail shaft? Bolt pattern? IIRC, all the B-body and Riviera tranny's are interchangeable but just want to make sure. I plan on changing the filter and flushing the fluids. What's the best way to flush the tranny out? How about the cooling lines to the radiator on the Electra? Thanks in advance.

The transmissions are interchangable as long as they are the same length (TH400s come in 3 lengths)
On the two prong connector, one is the electric kickdown, just like the one prong connector. The other is an emmissions-related circuit that only allows the distributor to get vacuum advance in third gear. Junk. I believe you can snip off the extra spade connector on the trans and hook up your one-wire kickdown connector.
