I just installed a new 2800 stall Coan converter. When i start the car and put it in drive it starts out in 1st. When i stop at a light it will start in 2nd unless i shift it into first. Does anybody have a suggestion on what to check ? Thanks, Dave

  2. first thing i would check is the governer. i had a th350 that did the exact ame thing. the governer was sticking. cleaned it up and reinstalled and all was fine.

Give that man a cigar!! The govenor was hard to remove and the plastic gear on the end was striped. What would cause that ? Everything was fine until i put the converter in. Is this just a coincedence(sp) or is it related to putting the converter in? I did beat it pretty hard testing out the new converter :3gears: :3gears: . Thanks, Dave

    destroyed 2 th350 governor gears,why?

I just installed and killed another governor gear. What would cause the gears to strip like this. I went for a short drive and it was ok for 2miles. Then it started in second again, just like it was with the bad gear. yesterday i installed a new 2800 stall converter, and now nothing but problems with the governor. please help. thanks, dave

check the governor shaft bore for wear. Especially at the gear end.
