I have been trying to get my tranny to shift where I want it. I have a B&M governor kit and the tranny has a transgo shift kit. At first I went way to far and it shifted to late. I have been backing it down and now I am wondering about the "kick down" cable adjustment. It likes to down shift, almost to quick. Should I keep playing with the governor or maybe try lengthening the cable?? TIA John 71 Skylark with almost stock 455 and 3.23 gears
Unless I'm mistaken, the governor mods only effect your wide-open-throttle shift points. You could just slide the little pinch clip a little further down the cable. I used to set mine so that the clip would be tight to the pedal arm at WOT. Maybe try setting it about half an inch beyond the pedal arm at WOT and work tighter/looser from there.
