I have a '69 TH350 that I am putting into the Electra, it uses the "cloth" style filter. I recall reading somewhere that it was recommended to use the later "screen" style filter that GM started using around 1980 as it flows more fluid than the early style does. Anyone else heard or is doing this?

    Thanks,Greg

    Greg,
You are thinking of ther THM 400 filters. The 350 filters are either nylon or rayon. The rayon filters finer particles, but the nylon flows a little better. You choose.

There was a metal screen filter available for the TH350. It was sometimes referred to as a "brass" filter. There are 3 types that are used in this trans. The brass type was used approx. from 69-70 (maybe a bit later), the fibre (Dacron) ones and the latest type which is a nylon screen.
Am not sure if you can get the brass filter from your local Autozone, Napa or Advance Auto. For years, I was able to get them from a transmission supply house. You may want to try a few tranny shops in your area and see if they can get you one.
