Okay, have a 71 skylark original 350/TH350. Converting to a 455/TH400. I see the wire under the dash that connects to the switch on the gas pedal that I will be swapping. The manual shows that wire connecting to fuse block. Problem is, I do not see the wire coming out of the block engine bay side. Would they not have had wires coming out of the block to dowm to tranny if it did not come with a 400? How can I correct this. Can I just run wires from the plug down to tranny or what?? Help plz

Yes, you only need one wire from the kickdown switch to the trans...

From where to where. It has to pick up 12 volts from somewhere. The diagram show two wires going to boot at the tranny switch

    1) use OHM meter to verify switch opens and closes and contacts are good. If good, next check, apply regulated 12V+ to trans to confirm kickdown is good in trans. You will hear the "click" and then verify the tang in the trans (if you have two).
    IF ALL PASSES (NEXT STEP)

2)If you don't have the factory wiring to the switch...grab any regulated 12v+ and route to the open side tang of the contact switch (at pedal). Open is pedal not depressed.

    3) Continue a wire from the closed tang of the switch to the trans solenoid tang. Closed on the pedal switch is pedal depressed.

    4) TEST: When connected and operating properly, you will hear the solenoid "click" in the trans when switch is in closed position, or pedal depressed. If source is ign. 12V+ (key on) turn key to "on" position, if constant 12V+ is source, then verify source is hot and manually engage the switch (use fingers) to depress the switch on the pedal and listen for the click.
--> If no click, verify 12V+ at all positions and locations, verify you have wires configured at switch properly (open/ closed position tang) If wires are hot and configured correctly, and still no go....start over and report back.:TU:

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

You can run the wire thru the firewall where the speedo cable passes thru and then to the trans. Easy to do.

I have a factory kickdown switch and the short underdash harness if you need it. No charge for the switch and harness, just $5.00 for priority shipping.
