i know i need to shorten up the driveshaft, change the crossmember and change the kickdown. my biggest concern is the shifter linkage, will it bolt up the 400 or is there a change. the reason for the swap is because i want an extremely durable trans. i don't plan on taking an easy with the car and want the durability.i hear the 400 is really tough trans so i figure i'll rebuild the trans myself and i hear the transgo shift kit is the kit to get. and then put on a good sized cooler. has anyone done this before. thanks for all the input. By the way this is going behind a 350 with 4.10 gears, what would be a good stall. it has a ta 310 cam going through manifolds. might custom make headers later. it pulls up to around 5100. i was in the middle on fine tuning the car and the trans broke after 500 miles. the car weighs around 4100-4300 pounds. this is the last time i will be doing this so i want to do it right. Thanks

I don't think there is any difference in the shifter linkage between the 350, and 400. Should bolt right up. On the floor shift linkage, the only difference is the bracket that secures the shift cable to the trans pan. TA 310 is a pretty hot cam in a 350. The 4.10 gears should help that. TA recommends a 2500-3000 stall converter.
