After talking to people and really debating about going to a manual transmission, i decided on rebuilding my th-350. i want to do it myself. i have bought and read the book by ron. it is going behind the 350 in my lincoln. it weighs around 4200 pounds. it has a 4.10 posi in the rear and around 3,000 stall. what i want to know is what rebuid kit should i get and what if any upgrades should i do to the trans. i already installed a transgo shift kit in it. should i replace or upgrade the sprag. any other tips or advice on rebuilding the trans. thanks Jeramie

That's a heavy machine! I would definitely recommend a direct drum with a 36-element sprag assembly to replace the spindly factory spring & roller setup. That's definitely one of the weakest points of a TH350.

Premium clutches will also make a difference in your application. TCI has a Master Overhaul Kit (329015) that has Alto Red Eagle clutches that'll take the punishment.

Keeping it cool is another secret to success. Get a nice size cooler, an aluminum pan and run good quality fluid.
