I'm going to build a turbo 350 for our 72. What build kits or products do you suggest for a strong build with hard shifts for street/strip driving?

Anybody know of a good book or guide?

The best service manual I've seen is by Haynes. It's #10360 and covers the 2004R, TH350, TH400 and 700R4. I like the Transtar overhaul kits and get them from Northern Auto Parts. B&M shift improver kits work well for me.

get red clutches and blue steels, new drum to fit extra clutches and steels, and trans go kits alot better than B&M, they do more than redirect fluid.

Thanks for the input. I want to build a strong one, and want to get the right parts.
I've been looking for a performance build manual or book, but all I can find is written 10+years ago. Dave, does the Haynes give performance info?

No, the Haynes book doesn't have anything in it as far as performance modifications. It does go through the entire process step by step with a ton of pictures.

Here is a link to the book you need.

    http://www.amazon.com/Turbo-Hydra-350-Hp511-Sessions/dp/0895860511

He aslo has a th400 book out.
Poston sells a kit with all parts and the good red clutches for $139.00
Check with them to see what other parts they reccomend.
Also get the sprag race from them for $49.00.
I would run a manual valve body. I have used TCI and Turbo Action.
    I liked the TCI better.
Poston sells a JW valve body for $169.00

I just recently finished a build of my BOP TH350.

I found the book linked in the previous message to be excellent, and I recommend it. It has good information on performance mods, and covered the basics in detail with lots of pictures.

Another source for TH350 parts you could use is transmissionpartsusa.com
They have tools, rebuild kits, everything available as singles and kits, and their Website and even their service was excellent.

I built mine with a Transgo kit, and I found it to be very easy to install with good directions.

    Good luck!

Thanks everybody. I've got the book ordered and will figure out the parts and get started on that.
