Plan "A" I think I would be MORE excited about getting that turbo car to the track and back up that 10.15 ET I keep hearing about. You know with a video and everything to show off that 350 Buick is for real.
I'm surprised there isn't more hoopla about the s/p. a few showed an interest on this thread. apparently the rest of the sbb crowd died off and won't be heard from again. I'm not surprised at all.
Build it and they will come. I think many people who will buy this intake are people who aren't regulars on this board. It will be the guy who wants to wake up his 2bbl 350 without swapping to a big block. As more people see what potential these engines have they will want to get in on the action. We need more track visibility. We need people who have mild to wild 350s running at the track at some events. Bench racing doesn't get anyone interested.
I disagree on swaping a single plane on to a 2 barrel engine. Most are a 7.7 compression engine that has little go after a cam swap and adding a single plane to that will make it worse. I believe most that go for this intake besides turbo guys will be someone who has ran their engine and needs more power. But I'm sure their will be those guys with big dreams and use this intake with a 413 cam in a 7.7 to 1 engine and wonder what happened. As they have 2.73 gears out rear and stock convertor. I have been doing some thinking on combos for the cheap low compression guys. Just need someone with a low compression engine that is willing to try out my combo. Pretty positive it will be a 300 + HP combo for less than a grand no touching bottom end. And single plane might actually work for it.
I disagree too but people will still do it. My hope is that they spring for a cam and adjust the rest of the drive train to match the powerband.
As long as my combo works well with it. I just put down deposit today. I wonder how many people are on the list TA has.
The only people that are going to know about this intake are the people that get on this site and anyone with the GSCA. Everyone hat gets on here with a 350 of any kind are instantly told what to do, in big long sentences.
You know I am going to get one, I have been waiting 20 years for this to happen. If it wasn't for people like you and me building one of these things there would not be any parts for it at all.Sonny Seal should be mentioned here. I was one of the first ones to get a SFI flywheel for a 350 trans back in 1992 people. That helped you ALL get one today. (not you gsjohnny lol) TA made me a 7 QT oil pan with a big square pickup with large tube. This was all over 20 years ago. Forged pistons, 73 rods, all this crap. I am in. Glad it's here, take your time Mike, do it right.
The boat does get farther along as years go on, but the complete package will bring them back. Heads, intake, cam, maybe a carb, instant bolt on gratification will draw the masses.
Im gonna try the SP3 intake when its available. First tho Im gonna run the DP for all its worth on my 350 (I hope) and see what it does, then switch to the SP3 and see what improvement it offers and any difference in street manners compared to the DP. Call me F'd up, LOL, but I love real world, real time tinkering:TU:
tinkering............come to my garage. always pieces/parts around and on paper for next project. just need more time and money as usual.
i get the GSCA GSXtra - have not seen anything on the SP3 . web site ? maybe - will dbl check . and i click in to the TA website a couple times a week lookin for more info n updates but have not seen anything yet . not worried - mike will get there . not a rush kinda job i'm sure . tinkerin - yep . too many little jobs layin around , keeps distracting me from workin on the car .
