    Is this possible? I have no idea what shape mine's in although I will pull it and check for metal in the pan and such before I put the engine back in.

    Not really, theres two ways of doing it (right). for ease of mind, you can turn the inputshaft by hand, and shift through the gears. if the output turns, its a good sign but ur not home free yet.

    The other two ways are;
    1) Take it apart, buy a gasket kit, and put it back inspecting each peice for wear. My tranny guy offered to do this for $150 cdn, which included removal from car, gasket price, and labour for removing, stripping, inspecting, reassembling, and reinstalling. Im sure it would be much cheaper if u could do it yourself.

    2) Im not sure of the correct name, but look up dynomometer in the yellow pages, and try to find a transmission dyno. They will basically hook up the transmission to a dyno which will run it, and shift etc.... Basically a live run test for a tranny with a simulated powersource. The price for this was $100cdn, they would have also inspected for proper operation.

    Good luck.
