Off topic I know but my wife and I are both having a hard time sleeping and are considering a Tempurpedic bed. These are quite pricey, the same money would buy a lot of speed parts, and I was wondering if any of you guys have one and what do you think. I think you can get them with a 30 day in home trial period, cause I'd hate to spend that kind of money not knowing how It'd work out. TIA

When I was in physical therapy I asked my therapists about the Tempurpedic and the Select Number job. They were split down the middle some liked the foam some liked the air. They all agreed that either are way better then a standard mattress. If you know anyone in the medical profession talk to them because they get a nice discount from both companies.

BTW I'm steering towards the Select Number bed. My inlaws have one and they swear by it, as did my main physical therapist.

Funny you should ask Dave...I've been complaining about our bed since my wife convinced me to get rid of my water bed 8 years ago. We've gone through three mattress sets and two beds in that time and I haven't liked any of them. I wasn't ready to take the plunge and spring for another $600 or $700, so I bought a 4 inch memory foam mattress topper off of eBay. I haven't been so happy in years!!!! I love it and so does the wife!! I got the 4lb density and I really like the firmness of it. If you like really firm you can go with the 5lb. The best part is I'm only out $150 for it and I also bought Memory foam pillows for everyone in my family. They all love them.. :TU:

I have had one now for a few months and I really do sleep better.Mine is very firm which helps my back a great deal but if you don't want one that hard the more expensive version by the same company is a bit softer. What I did find that there are some copies out there that are identical to the high dollar version of the temperpedic that cost half the price but I needed the extra firm one so I got it.Buy it from a regular store and you can save hundreds rather than the tv ad.Bought my queen size for $1700.

Jim, did you get the Tempurpedic brand bed or one of the other brands? How long did it take to go bad? I'm glad I didn't pop for the big bucks if they go bad :eek2:

I do not think it changed. I is just real hard and those boys in a giant king are heavy.

We are getting one of those air matresses that can be adjusted on each side differently. Softness of bed is rated on a scale I think that is called "sleep numbers". The average person likes a sleep number of about a 30 if I recall it correctly. The foam jobs are way off of a 30 although I do not recall the exact number.

The are just painful although it seemed like such a good concept when we researched to buy it.

After I hadn't slept well for like 16,000 years, my wife and I bought a sleep number air bed. We sent it back. Crappy customer service first of all. Not rude, just slack. I felt like I was being swallowed on some numbers and like I was gonna roll off on others. We then went to the back store and looked at all the fancy schmancy backola mattresses. We settled on the tempuredic. I still have a rough nite once in a while, but overall.....It rules. We got the smallest one and it is comfortable.

Both types have exchange guarantees. For the kind of cash they charge, try them out at home for a few weeks and send it back if you don't like it.

Hi All, I'm the inlaw that MPRY1 speaks of. Purchased a "sleep # bed" awhile ago. First purchased a middle of the line mattress. with a 90 day free trial. Liked it & decided to upgrade to top of the line mattress. No problem at all. Called them & requested the better one. They sent out immediately with directions to return the one that I had. Smooth as silk transaction. Love my bed as does my wife. We each have different numbers. Works extremely well. Only mattress I've ever slept on that I can sleep on my back. JOE  :) :)

Well after having my waterbed for 20 years my wife convinced me to get rid of it :( I had never slept well in any hotel conventional beds so was leary of a new "regular" bed. We ended up with a Sealy 100% Latex foam bed. We've only had it 2 weeks and I sleep great on it :) I was really surprised, it's great. Still takes getting used to getting out of bed in the morning and not having to worry about rocking the bed and waking her up

I got just a foam pillow about 6 months ago and I sleep better with less neck pain in the morning too yet, I wonder what a whole foam mattress would do for me.

Got a King Tempurpedic about a year ago after having shoulder pain from sleeping on either side. Best bed I have ever had....sleep great. It is pricey but like they say, it's almost a 1/3 of your life for the average person.

We just got a new "memory foam" mattress a couple months age. It was very expensive, but well worth every penny. I haven't slept so well in years! The one we got comes with a 15 year full replacement warranty. I don't think you can get a warranty like that on a conventional mattress. :bglasses:

We bought one about six months ago, and it is as good as they say. The first thing I noticed is that I don't feel the need to sleep in on the weekends, wake up earlier and feel more rested.
