I know this is for Big Blocks, but I was curious if any of these new blocks have hit the tracks yet? If so, is anyone getting near the blocks maximum of 3000hp? I wonder what the racing world would think of a V6 that ran 5's?

It would be pretty cool to see a twin turbo'd V6 Nitro Coupe done...like what runs at Super Chevy!!:TU: :bglasses:

Last I remember, they were running low 6's!!:TU: :TU:

    It's hard to run 5's.

Mike at TA says that the block should handle 2000 horsepower. With the whole 2000 HP at the wheels, you'd need a 2100lb car to run a theoretical 5.92@230. Good luck getting that to hook up.

On the bright side, 2000HP at the wheels would also theoretically put a full-weight Century in the mid 7's at around 180MPH. Now THAT would be cool.

How much boost would it take to get 2000 HP from 231 CID?

I dunno, I'll guess about 55-60 PSI. Good luck finding a combination of fuel, compression, etc., to make that work. Not saying that it's impossible, but well ya know.

I think the point is that you can make some decent HP and the block will no longer be a limiting factor.

Sorry...for some reason I had 3000 stuck in my brain. Either way something is going fast with a Buick between the fenders.

The one thing I have found over the years is never predict what a woman or car will do. For now we will stick to cars.

I have not heard any HP numbers from Dan Strezo, the engine builder, nor do I expect to. What I do expect is a product that will run reliably and somewhat consistently. How fast it goes depends on the setup of the car, the tuning, and some good track conditions. There are many cars out there that have the potential to run low numbers, but not in the 6's. Billy Anderson should have the first good shot at it in 2004. If the new motors, the V6 by TA and the V8 by Burek live up to their potential, we should see several Buicks in the mid/low 7's. Maybe we would have enough of a census to start having a Q8 heads up race. That would be fun. Until then we still have the Buddy Ingersol stories to tell.
