I am looking to install new transmission lines in my 1972 skylark that has a 455 and the TH-400 trans. i have a B+M aftermarket stack type transmission cooler. I was thinking of running some type of braided stainless steel lines from the trans to the B+M cooler, then back to the radiator's transmission cooler, and then back to the trans. I am not sure of what type of lines would be good to use. are the braided lines ok? can you use a type of rubber lines or should they be the hard lines or the braided lines?

another question was if i sould run the lines to the B+M cooler and then just back to the trans without running the lines back to the transmission or should i run them back to the transmission cooler that the radiator has and then back to the transmission?

also where is the best place to put a transmission temp guage (as far as on the trans)?

    thanks!

    TH-350 IS 1/8"
    TH-400 IS 1/4"

FOR THE REST IS UP TO YOU

    I go with -6an

    trans hoses

I used a kit that Jim Weise made up for me. AN fittings and aeroquip hose. This was to keep the heat from the headers out of the transmission fluid. I bypassed the cooler in the radiator and used an aftermarket cooler only.

this input has really helped, but what type of line (other than the typical hard line) can i use. i was looking for some type of stainless steel braided hose or another type of rubber hose. is this OK to use? i want to make sure that i get the line as far away from the trans as i can. i am not too skilled with the tube bender :(.

    thanks

TriShield's kit is this type of line:

Forgive the greasy fingerprints on the lines...I was too lazy to wash my hands when installing them:error: Plus, I had to figure out a new route for the lines, since the big Buicks don't have a hole in the frame to run the lines.

John, Like Adam shows. Do a search on the internet or look in a Summit catalog for the Aeroquip hose.

Ok, I've got my new aluminiun radiator.
Trans cooler inlet is 5/16 inverted flare, I can't find any fiting that goes in it with a -6 AN on the other side , neither any adaptator.
Is there any kit for the trans with braided line?
I have all the fiting for -6AN but can't connect to the cooler or trans!.

    Thanks
