I have a set of intake manifold adapters for a 440 mopar RB intake (fits T/A "TE" style tall port heads) for sale. I bought this set in 2010 from Michael Evans here on the board. Price is $200, which is what I paid for them. These have never been used, and they include the aluminum valley pan plate and the intake gaskets. See attached picture.

I also have a used T/A 308S cam (no lifters) that I purchased from DaWildcat here on the board. This cam was working fine for him, and has been sitting in the box on a shelf since he shipped it to me. Price is $120, also what I paid for the cam.

My motor plans have changed. Would like to at least get my money back on the parts. Hopefully a couple of you guys here can put these to good use. Parts are in Fort Scott, KS. Will calculate shipping to your zip code upon request.

    Thanks, Randy Sprague

Frank, shipping for the adapters in a large USPS flat rate box costs $16. There are also four steel flathead bolts included that are part of the kit. I forgot to mention them in the previous post. Will take a Western union money order, or a personal check if you don't mind waiting for shipment until it clears the bank.

If you decide you want the adapters, post it here and then send the $216 payment to:

    Randy,

If it's of help for your sale, the cam was sold to me by Jim Weise. It was used for one of his engine experiments a few years ago, broken in and short dyno time only.

Thanks Devon. I know we discussed it before I bought the cam, but my memory isn't what it used to be. Considering all the brain cells I toasted as a young man, maybe it never was! LOL, Randy

Randy I am very interested in those adaptors if they are for a TALL RB block Mopar. All I have seen are for the LOW deck 383-400 Mopar. Did some one make these special as I did not know you could use the TALL deck manifolds. I thought they were too wide. Educate an old man.

    cam still for sale?

Jim, the way it was explained to me is this. One set of adapters work with the stock buick cast iron port locations, and that set will only work with the 361-383-400 "B" style intake manifolds. The set I have for sale is designed for the raised port aluminum heads that T/A calls their "TE" or track eliminator heads. The intake ports on those heads are about .300" higher than stock ports, therefore requiring a slightly wider intake manifold. These adapters are designed to use the wider 440 "RB" intake. You might ask Jeff Strube or Michael Evens for more info on this. I never purchased the aluminum TE heads, so I never got to try out the adapters.
I did buy a Weiand tunnel ram for a 440 to use with them from a board member here, and it is also for sale, although I have not posted it here on the board.
    Hope this helps, Randy

Michael, the cam is still for sale. It's yours if you want to be first in line.

does the cam gear show any wear?

This is correct. :TU: I had to buy the other set for the 361-400 "B" set.

I had to sell this set or modify it to fit. After looking into it, it would have taken to much work to make it work for me and it would be easier to just but another set from Charie Evans.

    Randy,
I'll take them. PM me a price or post price for the tunnel ram? So maybe I could add it to my money order. What's crazy is I have a set of these plates that have been port matched to my T/A stage 3 heads and tunnel ram set up with twin 950's. I just wanted a set that hasn't been ported. I will try a couple of things over the winter with a Indy cylinder 440 manifold and a unported tunnel ram. If they don't work I'll put the plates back up for sale or sell my stage 3's with my plates and tunnel ram etc. Wanna get inline Jim? :TU:

    Randy:

Thanks for the information. Charlie Evans is a good friend of mine (actual a sponsor for my race car-on the quarter panels) and I knew about the Low deck adaptors, we had used a set to put a Chrysler Edelbrock STR Crossram on an engine we dynod but was not pleased with the result. I had forgotten about the TE heads. I want to try an Indy Cylinder Head manifold. They are the best out there for the Chrysler wedge. They don't make one for the low deck engine and have told me they never will. I am thinking of building another complete engine (actually an old Buick racer has a promising short block he has tried to sell me) if I went with the TE heads then I could use the Indy intake. I just got all excited when I saw the adaptors for the RB engine.
    Thanks again,
    Jim Netherland

Michael, the distributor drive gear on the front of the cam shows very little wear. I am including some pics of the cam. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have opened the box since Devon shipped it too me. Sure glad it wasn't all rusty! The brown stuff between the gears is fuzz from the cardboard box, not rust, just in case you wondered.

Frank, the intake is a Weiand model 5986 with a #1913 dual 4bbl top. I had to contact Weiand to check out the number and make sure it was for a 440 RB motor, as the current catalog no longer lists this part number. They assured me that it is a 440 intake. I have separated the top from the base just to make sure the fasteners weren't frozen in the manifold. The socket head screws have some surface rust, but they screw in and out just fine. The gaskets between are in great shape as well. I bought this intake from a board member here for $150, and that is what I will sell it for, plus the shipping costs. I have included some pictures of the manifold for you.
I checked with the postal service calculator, and the cheapest I can ship the adapters and the intake (parcel post) to your zip code is about $40. That would make the whole package $350 + $40 s&h, for a total of $390

Send me your shipping address if you want to proceed. Thanks, Randy

Randy, a quick search on google shows #5986 is being referred to as the Weiand intake base for Chrysler 361, 383, 400.

That's why I contacted Weiand about the intake, because I was getting conflicting info about it on the internet. The guys at Weiand confirmed it was for a 440. I guess before we go any further I should get some measurements from Frank and check the width just to be sure. No sense shipping it back east if it is the wrong manifold.

Frank, can you take some measurements across the 440 tunnel ram intake you have and post them here? Maybe across the edges at the base of the manifold below the intake ports? On the one I have, across the lowest edge of the manifold flanges, it measures 7-9/16". Thanks, Randy

Frank, after doing some research today on the differences between a B & RB mopar intake, I have discovered that the tunnel ram I have is for the 361-383-400 B motor, not the 413-426-440 RB motor. I can only imagine how P.O.'d I would have been if I had actually bought the T/A track eliminator heads and tried to bolt the intake and spacers together.
Sorry I got your hopes up regarding the intake. As an FYI to all you guys looking to try the mopar intake adapters, the mopar B block motors measure 7.75" across the top, and the RB block motors measure 8.75" (dimensions from an internet auto parts source, use at your own risk).

So I guess we are back to just the spacers, if you still want them.

    Let me know, Randy

    Randy,
Sorry I was late with the measurements. Work has been crazy since Sandy. I'll get a check out in the mail tomorrow.
