As I remember two screws in the bottom of the lid area. Pull the shift indicator plate up and two there and one under the front emblem area, it just pops off spring loaded. Thanks Bill.

I don't know if the 70 is the same. There are 2 screws on the floor of the compartment. The emblem pulls off, and there are 2 more screws. Then you must disassemble the shifter handle by removing the plastic chrome U clip. Remove 2 screws from each side of the shifter handle, then pull the handle off. You can now remove the console.

Can I make a suggestion? Get a copy of the 69 Chassis manual. TA Performance sells reprints, or you can get it on CD ROM. If you are serious about keeping and working on the car, it should be one of the first things you get, before removing anything.
