I picked up a set of the NoHop traction bars by TA, quality looks good. The only thing missing from the TA box were any directions.. :Do No: . I'm sure I'll get under there and fugure it out, but I would appreciate any "Do's or Dont's" and any guidance on how to get these in quick and effeciently from someone who has installed them.

    Thanks

VinMan- It goes a lot better with 2 guys. They bolt onto the flange of the rear housing pumpkin with the "thimble end" up for the upper control arms to mount too. I don't remember if they are side specific. Take your time and do some holding in place and looking before you drill any holes. Mine didn't line up real well with the upper control arms and ended up being a pain to install. I wasn't very happy with how they fit. Mike D.

Just put mine on this weekend with the help of Gil

My set came with 2 sets of instructions so it must work better with 2 guys. :) I also had to fight to get the upper control arms on and that with the body off the frame.

I put mine on a 12 bolt Chevy reat end and had to do some grinding on the housing.

The passenger side no hop bar didnt seat against the housing ear because the weld on the no hop bar would not let the bar seat flat against the rearend ear. The other thing I had to grind was a casting nub by the fill hole so the passenger side bar would touch the housing. You need them to touch the axle housing tube.

On the driverside bar I had to grind (clearence) the back side of the driverside bar because it was hitting the top off the housing and not seating up against the ear.

The bars only fit on my rear end one way because if they were on the wrong side the fingers on the bar will hit the web that you need to drill through.

The bars go on the inside with the plug on the outside. The bolt will go from the housing and the nut on the wheel side.

Once on tighten the bolts holding the bar so fingers are against the housing snug so they do not move and drill from the bottom using a 5/16 drill bit. Run the drill bit into the top hole once through the web to make sure the bolt will go in to the top hole.

The big bolts are TQ to 175 ft lbs and the small ones 25lbs.

The black washers go on the top of the bars where the upper control arms now mount.

If I had the instructions I would mail them to you but they are at TSP.

In closing I need to thank Gil for reading the instructions and helping me do this.

I should also let you know I had the rear end out of the car so it was easier to move it around.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but do you need to pull the bushings out of the rearend with the T/A bars? I think someone told me that the Lakewood bars require that the bushings have to be removed, but I'm not sure of that.

Yes the bushings will need to come out

The no hop bars have the new bushings where the upper control arms will now be attached.

great..... this sounds like I'm going to have a little more fun that I thought I would. I did a search on our forum and it came back with good reviews on these bars, I obviously didn't see any posts like these "Install issues" above or I would have had a change of mind.

O well..... I'll do my best.

    Thanks fella's

I would call TA for instructions

I was discouraged at first and walked away. Gil was there the second time to push me a little and it wasnt to bad once you started. Good luck
