I've highly considered running one, but I can't justify the costs of the cam and lifters.

Anybody know Roger? He has a "fully rollerized" 64 Riviera. I assume these are Tom T's rocker arms since they fit under these valve covers, but not sure about the cam/lifters. Here is a shot on You-Tube:

I'd sure like to know what he's gett'n for ET's.

From what I recall, he's got a big ol' Erson solid roller in there. I think the specs are posted in the "cam specs" thread.

My 350 roller came in from T/A, and it is ground by Erson. It seems to be a very nice piece. Less than .001 runout on all journals and lobes from end to end rotating on V-blocks. :TU: Can't wait to get this build going and done.:Brow:

Know him, he's my uncle......If i worked a few less hours we might get to hang out more (we only live about 3 min. apart in the same city) *edit* i don't know which rockers he is running, i do know he has Tom's and TA's, I'd also like to see him try my edelbrock instead of that weiand

    Tim,
The build is changing; for now, TA roller rockers, Solid lifters, Erson cam switching to TA, TRW forged pistons. More on the build later when I finally get her on the dyno.
Dyno 2000 is very promising. You need to come over and see the Weiand..

Anyone with new information on the TA roller camshaft for NH?

I noticed the TA roller rockers just barely squeek under $1000 - at that price point i guess they figured out that the market numbers were weak. Add a roller cam, grind, and roller lifters ($495?), and the 3 item cost is...
    $2k - wow! :Dou:

nice that the parts are available somewhere, tho.

The Howards roller cam and lifters is about $600.00 I believe. They have been grinding cams for over 50 years not reboxing and middle maning the parts.

Yes, I have the TA Roller Cam, Solid lifters, and switched to TA Roller Lifters as well. Yes expensive, but a pretty good match for the ported heads (in other thread). The engine will go on the dyno this August (hopefully). Just finishing an engine test stand for break in, and completed the engine stand headers (modified one of the 1 3/4 inch kits from eBay). As been said many times regarding Nailheads, this is a slow, expensive process, definitely not a small block Chevy from 7/11. But we nailheaders all dare to be different.

And yes, I had a big Sig Erson Cam, tried Tom's Roller Rockers, and trust him when he says to measure first... bent pushrods flying all over the place, not pretty.

Ps still need the bolt circle size verified for the harmonic balancer

bent pushrods has to mean ugly valves and pistons. ouch! did Erson grind your TA cam as mentioned by "Mart" above? What profile are you going to run?

i have a 66 425 balancer in the garage. i can get out the calipers and measure dimensions if that would help.

TA Roller Cam, Solid lifters, and switched to TA Roller Lifters

Is that a semi-typo, or you used conventional flat tappets with a roller cam?

That would be hydraulic v. solid for the internals of the lifter
Flat tappet v. roller for how they contact the cam.

You can have your cake and eat it however you want.

Hydraulic flat tappet or roller - no valve lash adjustment necessary. Hydraulic lifters tend to let the valves float at high rpms.

Solid flat tappet or roller - adjustment is required. Won't let the valves float. Better for higher rpm's

Unless you have a rare set of adjustable rockers, you'll have to use adjustable push rods on a nailhead.

    Aren't Tom's rockers adjustable?

That's what I thought. No need for adjstable pushrods when you can easily get a set of Tom's kickass rockers :TU: !

These are solid rollers from TA.
    Tom's and TA's are adjustable.
I believe Tom's ratio is greater and variable.

I asked if you used flat tappets on a roller cams.
You explained what a tappet is.

The way I read the post he is using solid roller lifters. I am pretty sure a flat tappet lifter would destroy his cam in short order.
