I'll admit it. I really like the way those rear girdles look. But are they a good idea? I am not a racer, so would it be overkill? I welcome all opinions on this!

The girdle works by putting pressure on the carrier's caps and not allowing them to move or flex. It is a very good idea. I have one in my car as I run an 8.5 rear in my car and not a 12-bolt. But it is a $175 "toy".

    That girdle is awesome!!!!
Plus it addes about a half quart of gear fluid to the capacity so the rear will run cooler on long trips.
Since I added the cover I stopped trashing ring gears on my 8.5'' rear.
Looks good and doesn't leak and has an oil fill where you can get to it.
TA also recomments AMSOIL, I'm hooked on the stuff.
In the past I used Redline shock proof lite weight gear fluid with OK results.
The Amsoil knocked .15 off my ET(consistantly) over the redline stuff, with less heat/noise.
Cheap insurance, go for the cover!!

Do you need to still add limited slip additive to the mix when using Amsoil? What weight Amsoil is used??? Remember, I am not a drag racer.

This qoute was taking from thier site...
NOTE: AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lubes do not require the use of this additive. However, not all differentials respond the same and if chatter is noticed, the addition of AMSOIL Slip-Lock will eliminate it. For chattering differentials not running AMSOIL Gear Lube, this product is an excellent solution to the problem.

I run the SEVERE GEAR Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) 75W-140 Lubricant

LH billet cap & studs will perform similiar function to a performance cover & rear will look stock.
