    hi.
i have again some questions on my 425 NH in my 65 riviera. i've spotted TA's headers called "shorty" for a 425 NH engine. before ordering i wanted to ask the forum:

how can i contact TA via e-mail for tech-questions?
    has anyone TA headers experience?
do i have to use the standard header gaskets?
can i use the headers regarding the position of the powersteering?

    thanks for posting your answers,
    dirk

You will need to call them on the phone for tech. www.TAperformance.com. They also monitor this forum. TA is the number one supplier of Buick performance parts.

The TA shorty's are made specifically for the fullsize (including Riviera) NH Buicks. The steering box location was definately taken into consideration. I usually tell people that the passenger side will be the easiest header you ever install and the driver's is a close second, just a few extra steps.

We (TA) have an e-mail address available for our international customers to help with communication, time differences and costs. Dirk, Please check your PM box.

Hi Dave, I'm new to this website, I have 63 Riv I would be interested in your shorty headers but would like more info. Do the collectors dump at approximately the same location as the stock exhaust manifolds? Are the collectors the same geometry ...meaning same compression fitting and bolt pattern as the stock manifold? (ie. will I need to change the pipe coming off the header)

    Thanks for any insight.

Have them on my 64' Rivi. Good quality product, I do suggest getting the jethot coating. Just another little note- Driver's side (from front to rear) #3 header bolt has caused my entrance to Hell from the 1 hour of swearing while on my tippy toes trying to get that F&@#$*G bolt in- There has got to be a better way!!!!:eek2:

I have them on my '65 Wildcat. The collectors are VERY close to the original locations. I am very happy with mine.....but I mounted them on the motor while it was out of the car.

    Rick,

Do you notice a difference in sound and feel of the throttle?

    It's hard to say. I went from a 150k mi+ 401 w/ factory dual exhaust to a built 2x4 425 w/ 2.5" stainless X pipe. There was definately a difference between the two.

...and I would follow the recommendation to get the jet coat with the chromlike finish. I think TA calls it Jet Coat "C". It looks very nice.

I added them to my 64 425 cat, and love them. I had mine Jet coated, it's the only way to go.
Nice acceleration boost from them. They also look fantastic with a set of aluminum valve covers.
My only complaint is the additional heat in the motor well, but I just removed the splash shields above the upper control arms to help vent out the engine bay

You definitely feel the difference in performance, at least I did, and my exhaust sounds nasty.

Nice job on that Cat's exhaust!

Can anybody give the price on how much they cost? The price check option on the TA site isn't working for me.

I bought mine in May of 2005 and paid $395 for the headers and $200 for the Jet Hot coating.

I will also be ordering a set of these.

Which mufflers is everybody running with them, and how does it sound?

Sanderson also just started offering headers. They are 295 a pair uncoated and 450 a pair coated. Nice savings over the TA headers. I'd rather go TA but money is money for budget restricted guys like me. I am not affiliated with Sanderson at all and have no experience with their headers. Maybe TA can match Sanderson's price. *Hint* *Hint*

Are they making them for specific applications (Riviera's), or are they still selling the block huggers meant for street rod use?
